Wheel Offsets

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got some 18" Audi TT wheels offset 33 i think with 225/40 18 tyres on, and my reason for posting is that my car failed MOT test because the wheels are hitting my coilovers should these fit without hitting coilovers.

I first fitted these with the standard suspension and didn't check they were hitting the struts then got an MOT with new coilovers on and there fouling them. So should these fit no problem or do I have to go back to standard wheels and or raise the front a bit so the adjustable bit of the front coilovers are not touching the wheel.

Thanks,

Neil

225/40/18s are widely used mate :wonder: and thats usualy 8x18 et35

are the audi rims 8.5j or sumin? hmmm? most odd? i woulda thought youd only get that ort or trouble with higher offsets or oooo so wide rims :dull: like et50s or et35 but 9j or sumin?

curious :(

if you got some room to move them out, these H&R kits come with the tad longer bolts

and options for radial or the cone bolts :giggle: get em out

aaah i c :smirk: i read on, have you got it rite down have you bud ? im gona guess some coilovers platforms are wider than others? :smirk: that could be the issue, is it just the front then? my mk2 golf had i lil rub on the coilover spring cos the tyre pressure was low and i blamed that :wonder:

im sure someone of more use shall pop up tho

Checked today and my wheels are 8j offset 33. It was hitting the adjuster on the coilovers but hardly any marks if at all on the wheels them selfs but i guess anything touching the wheel is a MOT failure. Raised the height a little and more of a gap going to stick with original wheels until MOT over. Is it legal to have 17 on front axle and 18 on back (just wondering)?

There are some sports cars that come with different size wheels front and back, so can't see what this would be a problem. Could be wrong though, may be worth asking an MOT centre.

From what i can remeber its fine having 18R and 17F as long as your not pretruding past the wheel arch.

As you can have say 18'' tyres on the back and 17'' tyrers on the front will pass you just cant mix the size on the same axle.

Can find out 100% for you as a family member runs an mot place :giggle:
