Superb TDI Tuning

Featured Replies

Has anyone had their 130bhp tuned?i read up its more responsive and pulls much better as well.

Many posts about this. Yes it becomes more responsive and pulls better.

Search forum for more info. :-)

I suggest finding some of the guys here, who do it. I dont remember the names of any of them, but just be carefull not to get screwed. A non proper remap will destroy your engine.

So i searched a bit around. Try this link:

Get hold of SharkPerformance. I think they know what they are doing. :-)

I already used the system cleaner off halford's shelf.I think I gonna get an oil service done at kwit fit.does anyone know what engine oil they use?I was thinking of getting a bottle of castrol oil from halford.any model of oil you guys recommended ?

Regarding the oil, i will quote rotodiesel:

The only oils suitable for use in PD engines are to VAG specification 505.01, 506.01 (obsolete) and 507.00. Engines with DPF fitment must use oil to 507.00.

Viscosity is not a working specification and will not identify oils suitable for a particular job; 507.00 oil is SAE 5W-30. The PD engine has unreasonably high operating loads on the valve actuating cams which were made too narrow in order to accommodate the unit injector cams - hence the need for special oil. This is a design bodge which, coupled with VAG's hopeless documentation has resulted in the premature failure of a large number of PD diesels, especially in the UK where specifications tend to be ignored.

PD lubricating oil consumption seems to be a variable quantity - some engines burn quite a lot of it. My theory is that the factory fill of fully synthetic oil inhibits ring bedding if the engine is broken in too gently. My car is an ex rep-mobile and was no doubt thrashed for the first 20k miles of its life. It now uses very little oil - perhaps 250 ml between 7000 mile changes (507.00 oil). The fuel consumption is outstandingly good when considerately driven.

I would judge 500 ml in 6000 miles to be perfectly acceptable. I have noticed over the years that the bad PD oil-burners are the ones which end up with coked EGR valves and sticking (sooted) VNT vane rings. They also have a tendency to leak visibly around the EGR valve housing near the anti-shudder valve butterfly spindle. Avoid these engines when buying.

rotodiesel.

I recommend you change the oil filter too. :-)
