70k service?

Featured Replies

Well, my car is due it's 70k service (60k was < 6 months ago! ) and my local dealer is quoting me

Cambelt need replacing ???

As it's now past 60k the warranty is dead, so you may as well find a decent local garage to do the work. Only needs and oil change and check over really at that mileage.

There is a lubrication service which will be the 80 quid jobber , or an annual service which will be the full 200 or so.

If you are going to hit 80k in less than 12 months after the 60k then the cheapo service is all you need. Sounds like a clueless woman answering the phone.

why bother getting it done at skoda anyway just get it done at any vat registered garage if they follow the service itinery then your fine regarding warranty

Chris any local VAG specialists?

Chris any local VAG specialists?

Yep, but you don't wanna know what they charge ;) There is no warranty on the car so I'm not bothered about getting it done at a dealer because of that, I want to get it serviced by a place that knows the cars! My mate recently had a problem with the local highly-recommended garage who destroyed the dash and radio fascia on his Audi A3, trying to replace a bulb....

My understanding was that the car was "inspected" when I had my 60k service and, as the car had 53k miles when I bought it (at 3 years old), the inspection service should have coincided with all the major services? I'll have a look at the service book when I get home as that should confirm it, but it sounds like I need to be specific! ;) And the way I'm racking up miles, I'll be at 80k in about 6 months time :D

Chris

Ask them how much it would be just for an oil-change rather than a service...will probably come to around

70k service is just an oil and filter.

Thanks for clearing that up Ross - just what I thought :D I tried the dealer again but they were adamnant that it was 200+ quid, so I rang Winchester Motor Company who seemed more knowledgeable and said because of the mileage I do, a basic lube service will be fine
