Worn front suspension bushes - help please?

Featured Replies

Since finding out that one of my front dampers is leaking I have decided to replace both dampers and top bearings but yesterday we had a look at the bushes on the rear of the front wishbone and these seem to be a little worn.

The mechanic says that I had the option of PU bushes but I would need to source these. I see that Skoda parts can be bought either with or without the console to house them, but can they be easily replaced without the console. I would like PU bushes but I want the mechanic to be able to fit them if I buy them.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

The console and lower link comes off the car pretty easily. You can then extract the link pin from the console bush, take out the old bush and fit your new P/U bushes. Its not at all difficult. Your mech shouldn't have a problem. It is wise oto replace the bolts on the console and lower link - cost about £12 total to do both sides (get from dealer).

I was hoping that there would be no need for a press to get the bush out, so you've helped a lot on that.

Thanks

can't really offer any technical advice but I've just had my front bushes done under warranty, which was nice as the job card came to over £200!
