VRS vs Focus 2.0 TDCI Titanium

Featured Replies

Hello,

Drove one the other day and was well impressed, it is very similar to the vrs:

134 bhp

0-60 in 9 with some punch, felt just like stock vrs

Grp 10

51mpg

Superb interior that shows good build quality

Plenty of room its more like a saloon inside

icing on the cake = remote central locking also closes any windows that are open (dont know what u call that lol)

05’s are going for 5k same as a VRS

What do you think?

A few questions:

What are these tdci common rail engines like?

Has anyone had or drove one of these remapped? whats it like? Also what figures?

Iv driven a friends one, nice motor and does what it's built to do, but it's nothing like a vrs, it just looks like every other car, there's loads every where, and they all look the same, apart from the st. Fair bit bigger than a fabia too.

Matt

i had an ST

nice car to drive, miles better handling than a vrs

but i hated it, was like a cruise liner it was that big

true, but u can:

get in black + st alloys + st body kit = sexy

Like the "R32" round here with one smokey black diesel exhaust and one shiny clean one :-/ looks a bit like a cheap copy to me, I think not lol

Matt

haha awesome!!!

its like them ferrari bodykitted MR2's LOL

My mate has a Focus TDCi, his is mapped to around 180bhp and mapped Fabia VRS' beat it all day long. I'm not a big focus fan however as has been stated far too many about and they all look the same bar the ST

VRS all day for me, unless u need something more spacious in which case the Focus

I've read that their reliablity is good, but I've always thought it was a case of

Fix

Or

Repair

Daily

Nothing wrong with the Focus diesels, they are capable cars and well screwed together. There are thousands of them around and are not as distinctive as VRS's which is why we all bought one.

Fords are good reliable cars, and I've owned quite a few, but we sold the last one a few months ago and will never buy another until they do something about improving rust resistance.

Its called 'total closure' when the remote closes all the open windows.

Most VW's will also do this - although via the door lock - the Fabia vRS does it. (only on the front windows obviously)

I spend and have spent a lot of time working on Ford's.

In my opinion the Focus is a good car - just VERY boring, you aint never gonna look twice at a Focus

and as someone has said - that is why we drive vRS's - they are a bit different from the norm, and I think

asking a question about which is better in a Skoda Fabia forum is only going to get the same response I would imagine.

Can't the window closure feature be enabled through the remote keyfob

via vagcom?

Or is it only if you hold the key in the lock position in the actual door lock?

A separate control device is required!

Cheers Mike, Hmmmm.........

i think its only with the key in

the 'total closure' thing I've chased it down once upon a time and uh.. it ended up something to do with messing with vag com settings and the EEPROM..? if done incorrectly it can brick the ecu :giggle:. So! I've given up on that idea..

When I was considering the VRS I did give a focus half a look but really wasnt worth the money imo.. so bland!

Ta again mate

They're not taking orders at the moment but I can wait :D

Is there a way of stopping "total closure" from killing your dog on a hot day ?

I drive a 116bhp ford focus at work it lacks the feeling of acceleration and indeed acceleration compared to my vRS. The Mondeo ST I drove on a training course was mint however one of the best cars I've driven.

funny you should mention the Titanium 2 litre as I had one up close behind me yesterday, trying very hard to over take me and quite dangerously. I accelerated away leaving him behind (putting a safe distance between us). :giggle:

Not the first time either from a Titanium driver. I think they think they are driving an ST or because the name of their car sounds like robocop's body armor they think they are the best thing since sliced bread. The focus is too over done now and as mentioned before nearly every other car is a Focus, TT or a clio.

lol the ST is not a big car.

Try driving an old saab 9-3 2.2 that is a proper heavy tank

Or a Saab 9000 2.3 CSE, one of my old ex rides.

I put that on the weighbridge where I used to work and it was almost

the same weight as an empty transit. :D

Total closure only works if you hold down the remote button, so if you just press the button once and don't hold it then your dog will be happy. :)

Honestly i swear.....

It is farping huge!!

also the turning circle is shocking! a really poor car to park
