312mm brake judder

Featured Replies

Ihave had my new brake set up on my car for about 2 months now , i have been noticing i have got quite

bad brake judder every now and then , i have taken the wheels off and noticed that they have put the disc on and put the securing

screw in and it is ****ed with abit of a gap , so have taken the screw out completly and just fitted the wheel back on .

There is still a bit of brake judder because i think the discs are noe warpped any ideas ?

Brake judder will be caused either by a warped disc or it's not sat flat on it's mounting surface.

When do you notice it the most? When braking long distances?

It does sound like the discs are warped.

new discs required

When I have had bad judder in the past it has always been worst on light applications, braking from higher speeds.

We eventually found out it was the rear brakes, not the fronts causing the problem. Try the handbrake during a drive and see if you get a smooth ride or "lumpy".

can anyone tell me why brake discs warped after a year on a new car ? suposed to be genuine parts from skoda itsef

Sitting with brakes on after slowing from a high speed? Like a sliproad for example

I had this, it got worse and in the end my discs only lasted a couple of months.

It was identified as a possible over tighten between the hub and the brake caliper on the drivers side which bust the thread and went on to warp the drive flange on the bearing too.

I got a good deal a pair of hubs of a scrapped Ibiza FR so put them on and that cured it!

Have a go on a brake test machine at a MOT test station - that will show you which side(s) are causing the problem.

Alternately, What condition are your console bushes in?

Mine used to judder braking from speed, Initial retardation was fine but as I was coming to a halt the steering wheel shimmied like a mad thing and the brake pedal felt like the abs was kicking in!

Mine turned out to be a console bush on its way out!

Iv got the same. Fitted my 312mm last month with new drilled and grooved discs and brembo pads. and ever since at slow speeds and in traffic iv noticed the brakes judder almost like the brake is on then off then on then off. Discs seem to have cleaned up fine with no marks over the discs. I havnt yet been able to find the cause to it. My console bushes are like new as fitted the seat cupra solid bushes. I do know my topmounts are now knackered as making noises but wouldnt think that would cause a judder. High speeds they feel fine just at slow speeds anyone??

Discs are warped or the surface of the hub hasn't been cleaned up properly.

Didnt clean the hub at all when fitted the new disc just put it on hmmm dosnt look like disc is warped as dont u get dark colouring on the edges when its warped

That's your problem then I guess!

Looks like i gota take them apart again damn

More than likely you'll need a new set of discs and pads as well.

Really this sucks grooved discs and brembo pads aint even covered 500miles yet boooo

Try cleaning them up first but I'd imagine the damage is done. If it's only 500 mile I'd imagine the pads should still be quite flat so could get away with reusing them if you really wanted.
