So what will Skoda offer next?

Featured Replies

The 17.5% off, also known as VAT free, will soon be defunct as any order placed now is unlikely to be delivered till next year, what will Skoda offer next. 20% off?

I doubt the marque can withstand a sudden 17.5% price rise. Given this recent offer, I couldn't pay list or anywhere near for a new Skoda again.

Steve,

You could normally negotiate abt 20% off a Skoda, even prior to the VAT free thing.

All they've done is taken some of the negotiating away from the consumer and made it look (to the uninitiated) like they are a bargain - in reality, they are just offering what they'd knock off anyway........ ;)

Very clever if you ask me, and probably explains why they are doing so well from it.

Agreed but I think they have also depressed the second hand market too by offering lower p/ex figures. This is compounded by long delivery times. Last week I was quoted mid February delivery for a 1.6 CR 105 Elegance estate but they would hold it until 1st March to get the 11 plate!

The offer for my current car was a little below what I would have wanted but was told it would have dropped another £1000 by 1st March. In the meantime, I would have needed to get it MOT'd and it would need four new tyres by then which I would have to pay for but get very little use from them. Six months is simply too long to wait. Skoda's priority must be to get the delivery times down to something acceptable and another offer like this one is not going to help.

Not wishing jump in the Im alright jack boat now Im soon to be new Scout owner, but I am I agree with the above I hope skoda dont bring out another offer like this or we will all suffer come 3 years or so down the line when the market is flooded with trade ins and values are hit.

I was so concerned about this I concidered paying a bit extra to get a more balanced trade in price in a few years on a Superb est, then I though what if they start discounting them by 20% at the turn of the year I would be gutted if i had just bought one!

I think youll find that Skoda will extend the 0% VAT...Or make it 5% or similar!!

They could offer a decent level of soundproofing! Bloody ridiculous that owners have to faff about to make their cars halfway refined. It's the only thing that would stop me buying another, even with no VAT. Simply not good enough

My Mrs new Elegance Estate is actually pretty quiet - much better than my Focus. I was under the impression that MY10 cars have improved sound deadening.

On the VAT free offer I suspect that this will continue unchaged, with an increase in the standard pre-VAT price in January to compensate for the increase in VAT. Of course since Skoda's sales seem good at present so they may decide to reduce the discount.

Mine is a MY 10, 1.8 TSI Scout registered in January . I came from a jaguar XF so perhaps my expectations are too high. The flip side is that the Scout has been faultless over 5000 miles and nine months, which is more than I can say for the XF
