Blue VRS to White VRS (New pics on page 2)

Featured Replies

Well, it finally arrived and I went to pick up my new VRS on Saturday from Pant Waen Skoda in North Wales. Service from them has been superb and would definitely buy from them again. It looks like I got lucky with the build time as I ordered on 19th June and collected on 25th sept which included the 3 week shutdown (week 36 build)

Collection and swapping the old car was a breeze, I gave the blue one a final wash and in the morning before it was PX'd for the new one after a tearful farewell. :'(

Im really impressed with the FL. Some changes that were immediately obvious

uppers

Better headrests - The old ones were quite hard and had a small contact area on the back of your head. The new ones are much softer and have more of a convex which fits the head better when leaning back.

Seats - seemed much comfier but that may have just been new foam.

Bolero - much improved over the stream/mfd2 i had fitted before! Very quick to navigate the ipod with the MDI and finally have track names displayed!

Climate - an option for high and low speed cooling which is handy over the old one as it was just one auto setting for AC.

maxidot - much faster than the old one and loads more options available to set

xenons - turning lights are weird at first but great for corners on country lanes.

dashpod - love the new one and the sweep looks great at night.

Sunset glass - seems darker than the old one but thats probably just my eyes reading it wrong due to the white body

Mirrors get to go in the middle -

They look massive from inside the car but they also improve visibility.

Downers

no sunstrip on windows anymore :(

compartment under seering wheel has really been dumbed down. no longer felted and not as much of a compartment :(

no bluetooth available so buying a fiscon once ive sold my skoda oem bluetooth

Estate spoiler has been discontinued so couldn't order it

Have spent the day today dodging rain, claying and trying to get several coats of carlack NSC and sealant on. Am struggling at the moment to get a decent shine on it but that might just be me not used to having a car with no metallic fleck. Got half the car done so the rest is planned for the weekend

Wheels to be done in anthracite before xmas

Your old one looks great, but then I am biased

cheers

someone will get a good car there as I really looked after it, not a single ding anywhere. The only thing that went wrong with it was an exhaust pressure sensor which was replaced

Looks great!

White with dark wheels is a great look..

Why aren't you fitting your old OEM bluetooth kit, I'm sure it would fit?

Looks great, old one look good as well.

White is difficult to get a shine. you need to get some zaino Z6 or similar.

A white grille surround is also v.nice:

I quite fancy the extra functionality of getting the BT working through the bolero touchscreen which the fiscon does. the original doesnt but is stil a great kit

thanks prolfe. yup had seen yours and it looks really good. I did de-chrome my blue one and had that running for most of the two years I had it but put it back to standard when i sold it.

Will have a look into the Z6

Ah yes, was going to mention the BT issue, but guessed you might want the added functionality, as the older BT modules only offer Maxidot control.

love the white grille

did the factory do this

if not please advise where you got it done and how much it cost

thanks

Hi Stu, nice looking  glad all went well.

Will keep an eye out for you! btw... I think it needs a remap ;)

Was the blue vRS diesel as well, or are you coming over to the darkside with the new one? :)

Just needs a blue flashy light bar on the roof & hi-vis stripes - sorted! :giggle:

Looks pretty darn cool, congrats!! :thumbup:B)

youve got that right. My last one was terrible for plod as they have an identical race blue unmarked in our area. the amount of times ive been waved a hello from coppers is unreal :giggle:

Yup, the Skoda BT is a great bit of kit but id prefer to have the tie in to the radio enabled. Its also easier to fit going under the ashtray rather than the carpet

cheers loz, will give you a flash if I see you :)

Wont be getting a remap im afraid. The car is a tool for work so the warranty is more important than a remap.

Yup, all my octavias have been diesel. I would have considered petrol with the prices last summer but theyve soon settled out again. Besides I like the torque on the diesels, its just a pity they have to have DPF's now :(

Spoke to the insurance today and re-colouring the wheels to anthracite will be a no cost mod so going for that at the end of the year after ive run it in a bit and made sure the wheels are ok :D

just wish skoda would hurry on with a new design for the spoiler

Was your blue one a PD or CR? I see it was an 08, but just wonder which side of the fence it fell :)

it was a 58, one of the first CR's as it was built in june and i got it in November. Think it was in Germany for a time waiting to be sold.

Havent noticed much of a difference between the two apart from maybe this one is slightly quieter and slightly more pokey. probably all placebo though from being new.

starter motor sounds completely different to the old one, more high pitched plus the glow plug goes out almost instantly. much quicker than the old one even when new.

I had a 58 CR and agree that my 60 CR is quiter and more pokey. I also think it sounds more refined and has a nicer sound when revved.

could be placebo, but your not the only one.

Also I barely see glow plug light either...

new car looks awesome

Love it matey, well all except the colour of course....

We all know Blue is best....

git ;)

didnt you know, white is that cool you have to wear sunglasses when you wax it!

on another note I visited the wheel guy in saltney yesterday and booked in for end of october to get them changed to anthracite. Hes full of ideas about making them unique and did suggest embedding a small vinyl vrs badge on the face of each wheel! going to have a look in photoshop before i try it :)

Having gone from an 09 CR to a 60 CR I agree. Quieter, more pokey, glow plug light barely seen. It all just feels more solid and well er .... better!

I must admit, although I like the alloys very much they only take a few days to get dirty after cleaning. I might have to consider this as from a distance when dirty they look as if they are anthracite, and not bad!! Where is this place in Saltney? Group buy :D !

I gave it a full coat of carlack sealant at the weekend so got some pics at night in a new local car park which have some cool white lights
