Turn off airbag help

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I've recently bought a Fabia Classic.

I need to turn off the passenger airbag so we can fit a child seat. The manual shows the switch in the glove box. However i have something different there - its a dial with a hole in it. i think it's related to the air con.

- does any one know how/where you turn off the airbag if you have air con fitted?

- and what does the air con dial in the glove box do?!

Thanks

The switch was an optional extra. If you don't have it, you can't easily turn off the airbag. Sorry. The dial with the hole vents cold air into the glovebox so your chocolate doesn't melt. There is something similar for the coke-can holder by the steering column.

Thanks for the reply.

Baby goes in the back then!

Safest place anyway, TBH. I chose the option of the switch on my car, but it's never been used. We just have a little mirror so we can keep an eye on the little'un.

I have the switch too,

Not that I'm ever likely to use it.

Yeah I'd prefer the back. Stops you looking at them when you should be driving! Also got ISOFIX in the back.

I thought the switch was standard lol, i have one too then!

the second time we used the switch for the airbag in SWMBOs Seat leon it broke! It was replaced under warranty but with different design one so there may have been a weakness in the original design.

Hello all. I’ve just bought an 09 Fabia 1.4 estate. There’s no switch in the glove box in mine either so I assume that means mine is ON as there is no light on the passenger airbag switch. I assume if it was off the light would be on constantly? I’m only querying it as I just saw the light flash on and then go off again. Maybe when I switched the car on. I’d like it on so hopefully all is well. Minor concern something was wrong as it lit up briefly. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

With an 09 car you need to be in the Mk2 Fabia subforum.
