312 Brakes, Think I just Got a Bargain

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Hope fully to go on my 06 Plate Fabia VRS which I will be picking up tomorrow.

Just picked up the following on Ebay :

Link To Brakes

I didn't see them until the auction was about to finish and wasn't too bothered about having them to be honest, just hope I got the right parts can anyone confirm they are the correct Carriers and Calipers for my 06 VRS and the price was OK ??????

Will sell the EBC Yellow pads as won't want them, will buy some OEM disc's and Pads, presume Skoda Octavia VRS or Audi 225 etc. are the ones to go for??

Not sure the Brake Hoses will be correct either for the Fabia, does anyone know? if not then they will be back on Ebay along wth the Pads.

Also advise on Green Caliper Paint, I've heard that Hammerite's old Smooth green is OK but have also heard it flakes with the heat???

Any info appreciated.

Hoses will be better than what you have as the tt hoses are longer!!

I think the Smooth green paint is discontinued now so you'll have to find

somewhere with some still on the shelf.

It looks like lots of places do the dark green but that's not the right shade.

I bagged a 500ml tin of the paler green for £6 about 6 months ago.

Still haven't repainted my calipers though :giggle:

I heard it was being done away with so got some while I still could.

My damn trolley jack and axle stands are somewhere in my storage unit in Bristol :(

So it may be a while until I get round to it. :D

The paint is available on ebay (try This link) - i painted my 312's a year ago and have not seen any flaking or bubbling; i do drive fairly hard so would expect to have got some heat into them, although i don't track it and that may have been a factor for those who have had bad luck with the paint.

Running OEM discs (from a tt) are fine, some have uprated further (ie grooved discs etc) but i'm not convinced in any neccesity for pure on-road driving.

And yes, they look a proper bargain!

Cheers Guy's,

So they are/should be the right Calipers and Carriers.

All i need to do now is source a 312mm set of Disks from an Octy VRS or Audi TT?

Thanks for the link to the paint, had seen that which is why I asked, cheers though.

Going back to the hoses, with them been longer would I be better just using the ones I have?

they are the correct ones...

pads/discs

use them ^

use the hoses that came with the calipers as the fabia ones are shorter and have little leeway.

Thanks Warwick.

Already had those in my Ebay Watch list.

Will give them a go.

Cheers

Discs and pads were also off ebay. They were listed as tt 225 oem. I can't remember the name of the seller, but they were a big trader so I guess theyre still on there
