Broken down!

Featured Replies

I have just got to the car this morning and it unlocks fine and all the lights are working ok but the car won't turn over or fire up??

I know it's probably the battery but im getting new beep!! Lol

The AA will be here within the hour or so they say but after I try to start the car and remove the key I am getting a funny beep from behind the dash somewhere? Any I ideas on what the beep could be???

Posting from my phone so can't do a search

Thanks

Just a thought.... Could the beep be from the alarm as the power is to low?? It's got a dealer fit Sigma alarm?

Could the starter solenoid be stuck, its a possibility given that the car is 7 years old. Do the lights dim when you turn the key or remain constant. Dimming lights would indicate battery, but if they remain constant then I'd go with the solenoid. Try hitting the solenoid with the back of a screwdriver and it may spring to life.

The beep could be the alarm, but that would come from the sounder under the bonnet. More likely to be the lights on warning, especially if you have removed the key.

Well less then 30 mins after I called the AA the man has gone and the car is running!

He did a battery test and although it has 11.88 volts it only has 40 amps lol new battery time it is then lol

Oh that was pretty painless then!

...& you hoped that the car breaking down would get you out of going to the car boot sale or supermarket!! :giggle:

Yep all now sems ok and got a heavy duty battery for £61.50 so well pleased, I guess I should have been expecting it go as it looks like the one that was fitted from new! lol

Nothing as exciting as going to the supermarket, I was just going to take the GF to work!! Well the walk will do her good!! lol
