Tax Disc costs less than last year

Featured Replies

Today I replaced the old tax disc from 12 months ago with the new one I bought online last week, only to find that last year's disc cost £120 and this year's set me back £110!

Since when has the cost of taxing a car gone down?

I'm not complaining, but it does seem odd.

Good news  mines due next month.

Depends on the year, according to Parkers my Ibiza should be in the new lower tax band, yet DVLA wanted to change me my usual amount thinking I was in the one higher, on the off chance they were trying to skank me, I contacted Seat HQ, who posted me my co2 numbers... needless to say, parkers are wrong... ggrr

Not they really still apply though 'ey?

tax on my lupo went down this year too...£35 per year before, now £30 per year

Still the same as last year , £175 a year on a standard 51plate 1.4  :(

Got a pleasant surprise in July -mine was only £49.5 for six months -THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN ADVERTISED AS A LOT MORE .

Yep, since April the 1st. it went down to £110. If you paid before this date according to the renewal notice you would have paid £125. Lucky I forgot about for a few days so I paid £110 as well/

Not all vRS's have dropped to this price though, its the EURO IV cars (2006 -) and also some of the really early ones (2003). Basically the ones that are listed as below 140g/km of CO2.

Tax on my VRS went down to £110. Tax on the Moggy Traveller stayed the same............FREE

Don't believe Porkers - according to that mine should be £110 (first registered July '04) - I've just renewed at £125.

What annoyed me was that the dealer charged me £120 when I bought the car in August, then I found the tax disc was only £110 - and he refused to refund me! Tried instead to put £10 worth of diesel in and only managed to squeeze in £6 worth!
