Oil pressure woes!

Featured Replies

Tell the story in Brief!

Bought our (Lemon yellow) 2002 Skoda Octavia VRS from Car Giant in West London - first big error I now know!

Car had a punchure on inner wall - nice on way home with car

They said nothing of it being a car registered in Northern Ireland - could not tax it or get a logbook (V5) until I had a permanent export lisence.

Got tax Disc slightly fraudulently which was manually issued from counter staff in Derby Road Post Office, Portsmouth - rather than scanned due to car being foreign.

Oil pressure completely went only after driving car 127 miles or so including the Journey from London to South Coast.

Car had no oil pressure and camshafts seized up. Car was put into storage and I paid a local Skoda Mechanic to diagnose fault (seized engine) obviously oil pressure related

Car Giant took car back and had it no fewer than 127 days right over Christmas until March following year. They said when the gave me it back - it had new engine? what that really means is your guess is as good as mine. They said they replaced the flywheel, clutch, cambelt, aux belt, fluids, oil, filters. (right this is the main thing)

car had to go back to Car Giant again shortly after - with no oil pressure. they changed the oil - which is what they said was the problem.

Then the clutch went - after 13K miles - but hang on they said they changed the clutch and flywheel. - According to Marcus my mechanic who is a master Skoda mechanic the clutch was not 13K miles old and although the flywheel was not damaged and was perfectly ok, it was not the Flywheel Car Giant said they changed. When I took the clutch and friction plate back to TPS in Portsmouth - they also laughed and said that it was the original clutch when the car was produced.

I have had a steady stream of coil packs - and Marcus marked the Cam belt whe it went back to Car Giant - and when he looked under inpection covers they had put old Cambelt back on with the mark on it..

Then another bout of oil and filters at least 5 times. I got really annoyed and changed the oil pump as the last time the pressure when it took the turbo bearings apart. I had a friend at Universal Turbos in New Forest who rebuilt the turbo (cash in hand wink wink) for £400 no reciept obviously. new oil and filters and car was ok for a bit.

Now the oil pressure went right after I noticed that the sat at a McDonalds drive through Saturday night the exhaust was smoking again like went the bearing went. Guess what I got a mile up the road and the oil pressure went again. Just had it recovered back to my house today.

Going down Skodas in Fareham in Hampshire to see if they can tell me wether the car still has the same engine it left the Czech Republic with - and if it does car Giant are having it dumped with bid signs in windows in their carpark and it will be on utube for the world to see what twisted muthas they really are. This is the first car me and my wife bought that was fairly newer the the bangers we have been acustomed to in past.

Was wondering if anyone else has had similar oil pressure problems like these.

Just adding the sump was cleaned up and the oil pickups were clear when the new pump and turbo were fitted. I have always used the right oil - which you all know is not that cheap to buy. I have always used genuine OE parts too!

NOBODY GO TO CAR GIANT TO GET A CAR PLEASE _ THEY HAVE TREATED OUR FAMILY SO BADLY AND ARE COWBOYS - JUST WITH 500 ODD CARS!

It is entirely possible we did buy the only Lemon out of all the cars they had (quite literally) a lemon yellow Skoda

Where on the engine is the engine number? and does this appear on the logbook or Skodas Maindealer networks computers?

OOh, really feel for you mate, taht doesn't sound good at all.

The 1.8t's are renowned for having oil probalmes and sludge buildup, but it's more an american thing. It sounds like they've put the old engine back in, or at least the block (Might have a recon'd head).

See what they say, hope you get some joy. I would demand a brand new engine, or at least one with a provable mileage and service history, and get the serial numbers etc off everything.

engine number should be on logbook, it's also on the stciker under the boot carpet.
