Amundsen Navigation

Featured Replies

Anyone have Amundsen Navigation here?

I am going to order a new fabia and woundering if I shall have Amundsen Navigation..

Does it have speedcams? and how do u update maps on it?

I would never consider a built in Sat Nav.

I have used Tom Tom for a number of years and although they have taken a lot of flack lately I am still happy with my one.

There is a dedicated forum for Tom Tom My link

Speed cams can be updated from the Pocket GPS site for a very small subscription. My link

They also have a lot of Point of Interests which can be downloaded for free.

If you do go for a Tom Tom don’t buy the new 1000 model as speed cams and POI’s can not be added from 3rd party sites

Hope that helps

Sorry, Just noticed you are in Norway. So forget what I said about Pocket GPS

I have been using Tomtom for years and now with my HTC HD2.. but it would be more useful with it build in the car if it have the same functions like speedcam and easy map-updates..

if not.. is there any holder for my HTC HD2 that I can mount in the fabia? without that I have to plug in the 12volt in the middle of the front seats..

Anyone got an Amundsen satnav on their Fabia - be interested to know how well it works - the instructions talk about downloading the maps from disc onto an SD card which can take a considerable length of time - does this mean that unless you do this, you cannot play a music CD at the same as using the satnav.

Also does anyone know if the Amundsen unit takes a full 7 digit UK postcode?

Have taken the risk of ordering the satnav on my new vRS Estate, though nobody in the dealership knew anything about it!

Hi ive ordered the satnav, once you have loaded the disc and uploaded info into the system you take the disc out,so you can play your music

Anyone know if comes with speed cams on the map? Or is it possible to change/download mapupdate with speedcams?

Without speedcams warning (in norway there is speed cams at every corner).. the nav is useless for me without it.. B)

I do not think any manufacture would supply speed camera/traps on their sat nav's. There is too much chance of someone taking them to court and various different grey area of laws in different countries.

If you are after that then I would go down the after market route.

As a built in sat nav its not badly priced, but for what you are looking for in a sat nav I would stick to a portable unit.

.....i have the scoda colubus( rns 510)abit better than the amundsen .anyway i think any built in is better than those portables.

I had a portable tomtom for years would not go back to it even if offerd free.

There are ways where you can (edit your maps cd/dvd) add POI and speedcameras i know i have.......just google it and you will find the people sharing the how to

..mine has trafic annoucmet which also calculates another route if there are problems at your normal route destination all by itself, have overide a few times to see if is wrong ended up waiting in long ques for a while :)
