How do I reset the service reminder on the dash?

Featured Replies

I am going to change the oill and filters on my mk1 next weekend, but want to reset the dash to show it has been serviced. Any ideas?

*sigh*

Look in the manual...

a stamped service book is the normal way to show it's been serviced . :giggle:

press and hold right hand button - turn on ignition - release button then press and release button again - insp will appear in the display - turn left hand button as before until ----- appears.

what is it with ppl being so unhelpful on this site? i use various forums for other cars i own, ask a question on there and someone will answer it or at least link to the answer. ask a question on here and get some smug reply of no help at all.

There not unhelpfull.

A lot of us have been here a long time, have answered these questions many times and even made how to guides on a lot of things. A simple search will provide answers to many questions and stops choking up the board (which has limited space).

Agreed, all the other one's I go on you always get a reply or a link, and too think that I have just upgraded too FREEDOM memebership to support the club to get help when I need it.

plus not every 7 year old car comes with the original manual, I thought these forums where here for other like minded enthusiasts to share knowledge and help others.

Oh and it's in the owners manual ;)

This question is probably asked at once a week. I know I have answered it numerous times in the past - normally linking back to an older post, so a quick search would reveal the answer.

It is not that people are unhelpful or rude on here, but people need to do a little thinking for themselves. Fine, by all means do a search and if you don't find the answer, then ask and someone will help if they can.

Once again, a link back the answer to help those searching in the future: Link

Apologies to the OP for the abrupt answer: maybe it's the lack of intonation that posting on the web brings, but the 'any ideas?' at the end of the question smacked of self-importance like he felt as though was going to try and fit a Porsche engine in his Octavia or something - not do something that is covered widely both on the internet and in Haynes, not to mention the car's literature

Thanks for the help. I did try the search option, but all I could find was posts about cambelt changes?

OK, point taken! :)

The search here seems unable to distinguish 'and' and 'or' searches, so it's better to use 'site:briskoda.net [whatever you're after]' in Google TBH...

Anyway, hope your dash is OIL-free now!

Agreed

There is another U.K. webforum site that deals with Skoda's and they are always more than helpful, I too get a bit annoyed by smug replies.

Personally I've always found everyone here to be extremely willing to help. I think sometimes we have to accept that we all have "off" days and sometimes say/post things that with hindsight we might wish we hadn't. We all do it....emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I know I have been guilty of the odd off day, but I think the cheeky / maybe slighty less-than-helpful comments tend to appear on threads about very simple things, for which generally a quick search would find the answer (although searching seems a bit broken at the moment).

What people need to remember is that the people who post on here do so, generally for free out the goodness of their hearts to help those with less experience. If people don't like the answers which they get for free, then go visit your local dealer and pay £60-£100/hour for the advice. :wonder:

To me I have found briskoda.net to be a godsend (for both my Octavia and Fabia [now departed with the gf :giggle: ]), and it is part of my daily life. Maybe I need to get out more :D

Me too, or at least that's what SWMBO keeps telling me! emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif
