1/4 Mile charity sprint

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Im taking part in a local sprint, normally you have to be fully registered but seeing as this one is for charity the general public can enter so there are going to be all sorts taking part.

Anyway, i drive a 2004 VRS and i was wondering if any of you guys can give me some hints/pointers when it comes to changing gear at the exact time.

The car hasn't been modified in any way so i think im looking at about 4000 rpm to change up? Not sure really because ive never done a sprint before so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Take the back seats out!! theres a few KG gone straight away and will help with your start

Thanks! But I forgot to mention the cars taking part can't be moddified

If it's not to far to travel, you could remove the spare wheel and tools

Good idea about the spare I hadn't thought of that!

Any of you guys done this sort of thing? When would you change gear?

Just put the money into chartity rather than having to fix it afterwards :p

pre remap i chaned gear at 3,5k rpm so it stayed on boost i always leave tc on as the drag strips are slippy IMO just dont over rev it to early get the car rolling then punch it other wise it will just light up the wheels

Thanks for the advice, I was a little worried about losing traction on the start,

I didn't really think I'd get away with changing so early so thank you!

Minus that last bit, the rest will make sure you go slower.

TC OFF.

Change at a tad over 4k in 2nd, 4k in 3rd, and your'll cross the line in 4th no problems.

I've never really tried with TC off but it's a bit tricky over here to practice lol.

Lately the car has been making some terrible rattling noises under acceleration which

I'm pretty sure I haven't heard before so that's a little worrying :(

Could be anything mate, if its a banging noise more than a rattle id be worried!

Leave TC on?!? Jeeeeze, you can feel the difference just on the road how much it holds the car back, as if you'd leave it on lol. I jus changed at 4 when I was unmapped.

I'd take this advice - T.Spark doesnt go out very often but when he does its to a 1/4 mile strip usually...hes good...wish i could block him from seein this though as his ego is already at stage 5 and maxxed out :p haha

Car wont be far behind stage 5 next year fella either ;) Im out in beeza every day I will have you know, or atleast I have been from May til now! MR2 is back for winter (nice winter car huh?!)

Misses wants a house

I want a motorbike

So not sure how much will get done to the beeza mind!
