I was reading the blurp ...

liquidOCTAVIA Mk1 - KIT

The liquid will also work well with stage 1 and stage 2 remapped cars but user should be aware that the diesel ECUs have limits that are applied to the MAF figures as well as the Torque output. If your car generates greater torque than this limit or consumes more air than the MAF limit then the liquid will not show the actual values but those reported by the engine ECU. It is likely that these limits will only be reached if cars have been fitted with “big†turbos. For example the normal torque output of the Golf 130PS is 228 lb-ft, and after a remap will be about 265 lb-ft and the maximum torque limit is set to 303 lb-ft so will work correctly on the liquid.

my car is running a little more hp and torque than those figures (but its a 1.8T 20v), does that mean I can't use one of these ?

What your running more than 500HP and 500Nm??on a 1.8T.The bit quoted above is for diesels

i had one in mine infact it was the first in an octy and it was good at first but it is just a bit of fun imo as readings would differ all the time

Nowhere near that

Misleading blurp got me confused ! Think that whole section of blurp must relate to oil-burners - seems to have been attached to all model specific listing :dull:

How bad is it ?

I knew its boost gauge readings where based on recorded values rather than actual live boost pressure (which is why I've got analogue boost & oil pressure gauges).

Had been toying with the idea of one of these instead of centre console gauges.

As I have VAG-COM I don't really need any of the diagnostic functions - unless there's anything it can do better than VAG-COM ?

they are no replacement for real analogue gauges.

a nice gimmic, and in conjuction with the correct gauges would be cool perhaps.

mounting can be an issue, no use in the ashtray if you are driving quickly as you cant see it, and who wants to lose a vent to fit one...

its to small and imo not worth it i sold mine within a month as you can safely use it and reading could be out by a long way

good toy and fun but its just that imo a toy

Hmm thanks for all the words lads, after all that being said i think i will leave it.

It's hard because i really want boost, oil pressure and tempreture but i don't want gauges that look like something out of 'fast and furious'.

They dont have to, if you look at what robclubley has done they look really good.

Here's a pic of my liquid gauge.

I've had it fitted for about two years and so far have had non of the problems others have posted, in fact I turn it on and use it every time I start my Octy vRS and IMO I'd say it works very very well.

But it has to be remembered that these are sold as a diagnostic tool and not as an every day alternative to conventional gauges, which IMO have a clearer display.

One advantage of a liquid gauge is it records peak values while you drive which allows you to drive without having to keep an eye on the gauge.
