console bushes - renew

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have been under the car checking all the bushes trying to identify the culprit for the clunking noises I seem to have been getting of late. I think it is the console bushes that are gone, could anyone confirm that these are console bushes and also where I can get replacements (or parts numbers) and if there is any uprated alternatives? I seem to remember someone mentioning cupra bushes? Anyway here are the pics of the offending items.

These look absolutely FUBAR please tell me i'm right!

P.S. Anti roll bar bushes, drop links, and track rods all seem in good condition so it must be these.

Cheers,

Dean

They've certainly seen better days mate.

Mine were in similar nick at my last MoT (advisory item) and the older two web version pictured

are half as supportive/firm as the newer 4 web variant now used by Skoda.

When I had mine changed a few months ago I had the newer 4 web variant fitted

and I prefer the improved sharpness at the front end but for the firmest "feel"

the Cupra solid bushes or the Powerflex poly bushes are probably superior.

FOOOOOBAAARRRRREEEEDDDDD!!

get a set of LCR on there, i have a set here waiting for my mechanic to go on i hear nothing but good reviews and they are a VAG part so easily available.

Although don't go to seat, they wanted £17 + VAT - did a bit of a google and got mine for £7 incl VAT (each)

Cant wait to get them fitted and the improvement they are meant to make :)

PM'd mate

As the front of wishbone is free moving and no-restriction, with the rear having restricted movement ?? with the rubber bush firmly holding onto wishbone,

just can't understand the logic in the design ????

I have read members reports of solid bushes giving firmer suspension and lasting longer.

Skoda too have updated their two web to three web bush design, (I have read) so they are thinking along the same lines as fellow members on this site.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Sorry its 4 Webbed, as member (Thanks grr666) corrected me.emoticon-0105-wink.gif
