3 way switch in perfect fit for the fabia blanking plate hole and pump working LED fitted as per picture i will post more pics tomorrow but this kit will be for sale once i have it all up and working

nice one Si!

Look forward to seeing pics of the final product and the effect of sprayer on performance.

Interesting... If it works!

Alot of work, for how much gain?

As scoobys and evo's are fitted with them as standard they must think so. I got the idea while driveing on the motorway when there was lots of spray being kicked up everytime i had spray hitting the intercooler it felt to pull harder for longer than when nothing was infront of me kicking up spray so after some research i found a basic kit on ebay that consited of just a washer bottle and push button switch for the best part of £50.

So after lots of phone calls and web searchs i found all the parts i needed to make one but fully automatic (Boost controled) with the option of manual activation and auto shut off for when the bottle is empty so the pump doesnt over heat and go bang.

T.Spark:- when i had a trip to the nurburgring i found that every lap the car backed off power at the same point each lap so with the new FMIC and this im hopeing i have cured that issue.

Robshaw:- the therory isnt a new one its been around for years and as i said its fitted as standard to scoobys and evo's yes you can go further and spend alot more this is a DIY option for people who are looking for gains on a budget it wont give you more Horse Power what it will do is keep the Horse Power you have for longer i.e RR days, 1/4 sprints or just a quick blast.

any one who has realy pushed there car for long periods will know what i mean im not going to sell this saying it will give you 50bhp more its about makeing your car run effiectly as possible colder air = denser air as i have spent my money on a FMIC it seems silly not to finish it off properly.

I think an FMIC by its nature is loads more efficient at cooling air, than the water on top is going to add to that. :) That's why I just spray water inside the boosted air as the FMIC is cooling it down enough, and the water spray is more useful cooling down the charged air in the combustion chamber than keeping the intercooler cool.

Good work Si,

I can see you selling a few of these around the forum

thats the idea and as i said on a budget this is as option for people

i will be RR it once done 1 one with out spray 1 run with

It's reccomended on Evo's etc. that they use an ethanol mix for this too, think about spilling some on your hand and how cool it gets quickly, the heat transfer properties are better than water.

I ran with a nitrous halo for a year or so and it made a significant difference, so I would expect that you will find some benefit to this.

its been handy haveing the boost gauge fitted as i can see how the turbo is acting in different conditions this had been well thought out and as you said ethanol mix's are recomended that would be an option for people with this at the moment i need to get it fully tested with just water then i will try other mix's ect it will be intresting to get a RR test done as well

still cant test the automatic side of things as im waiting on parts but the manual side is now fully working and i have been testing it today it does feel to pull better for longer even my girlfreind comented that it felt quicker and shes no petrol head and has no understanding of cars or how they work  i will keep testing it this week and keep you upto date

good work fella

Another update

The automatic shut off isnt working properly but i have now found what the issue is so will be swapping that for a differnent part which should solve the problem.

I left the bottle full over night so i could check if there was any leakages but all is dry and full again left it full had an hours drive this morning checked again still full so im happy that there is no leaks on it at all

last night i further tested it on a dry bit of road as i was concernd that when being used the excess water would spill out on to the road so i used the sprayer as it is intended then returned back to the road and checked the surface for water but i couldnt fin any so all water that is being sprayed is evaparating as it should.

Wanted to make sure as i could reduce the amount of water being pumped if needed

Usually after the half way point where you start racing back up-hill again, you don't notice it so much, but half the track is downhill, half is back uphill again.. Cars feel flat as a fart going back uphill lol

spray heads

run on automatic boost switch set to 20psi

2nd run

manualy activated and stationery reved in automatic mode

Hope fully this will give you an idea of how it works in a nut shell when driveing normaly it wont spray unless you switch it to manual to activate the spray or you boost to over 20psi (in my case or what ever you set the switch to 6-30psi adjustment). You can see the boost gauge in my vid when it goes above 20psi the blue led comes on to show you it is working this is the case what ever mode it is in. Once i have fitted a different type of float switch it will cut power so that the pump does not run dry and burn out but it will also turn off the led so you know it is empty.

let me know your thoughts so far

As much as I'm skeptical about how effective it is, and the amount of gain for the effort, I'm very impressed with how you have done it. No offence, but sometimes when someone comes up with an idea I think "oh dear, this isn't going to go well". But all the works well thought out and well carried out! I await further testing, and I hope you manage to flog a few.

Matt

I saw a guy do this with the larger water bottle meant for the xenons.......

I've had it in mind to do this on mine since I got the FMIC, as I noticed the pull/fuel economy increased in wet weather on motorway runs.

Just how much extra though I'm very interested in seeing before I go to the trouble of doing something like this, if all it may do is add some more weight to the front end!

Thankyou for the comments guys it has been very long though out and to be honist has melted my brain a little the hardest thing has been sourceing parts for this as no one would sell certain parts in small numbers but after many many hours of serching the web and emailing different companys i managed to get what i wanted silly things i struggeld with like pitch types for the brass nipple adapter BSP and ASP and type of float switches the list goes on and on.

For all that effort you'd have been better trying to do Water/Meth Injection

For all that effort you'd have been better trying to do Water/Meth Injection

I quietly hinted that in the other thread, I suppose this way is good too :giggle:
