spongy 312 brakes

Featured Replies

Finally got around to fitting my 312's today!! All seemed to go well. However when taking the car for a run just to try to bed new discs and pads in the pedal seems abit spongy. I bled the system with an eazibleed bottle i got from halfords. I kept doing each side till there were no bubbles in the front system at all. I must have taken about half a pint of brake fluid out. I then used the old fasioned two person method, pumping the pedal and opening each bleed niple. There was definatly no more air coming out the fonts. When taking the car out the pedal sumtimes seems ok and quite firm and sumtimes it feels a little spongy. Is this because it has new discs and pads and the feel will come when they bed in properly? At the moment they dont feel to much different to what the standard setup was!?

As long as you fitted the calipers up the right way then yeah, probably need bedding in.

Hi

Put two hose clamps on the front hoses as close to the end where the main steel brake pipe enters

Then try your brake pedel again to see if it feels harder and better if it does then get a friend to unclip the clamps one at a time with your foot on the brake and see if the pedel drops where you might have air trapped.

If you have done the rears try the same but I think the rears have braded hoses which then you cant try that method
