Coolant temp sensor

Featured Replies

Hi, bought a new coolant temp sensor (green 1) where in the engine do i take the old one out and put this one in?

Look at the hoses down the right hand side of the engine (take the side plastic cover off which runs along the inlet manifold) and youll see it sticking upright on a coolant hose.

As above 5 minute job. Don't undo coolant cap and you will lose very little coolant.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

When I changed mine on my TDI, I found it really difficult to get the wiring loom plug off, so I did the following:

- put o-ring onto new CTS

- pulled out retaining clip

- removed old CTS and ensured the o-ring came out too

- inserted new CTS (and o-ring)

- reattached retaining clip

- unclipped the old CTS from the loom

- reattached the plug to the new CTS

Coolant lost was next to nothing

just did mine, took longer to open toolbox and get the screwdriver out than do the job

is the green sensor the one that sends the temp to the gauge in the dash??

Yes as well as the ECU.

Is this to cure the rough cold running problem? If so, I think I need to do this myself.

I need to change mine, what part number did you get??

Sorry just noticed your is a mk2
