What do Fabia vRS' pull to the kerb?

Featured Replies

I've noticed this alot since getting my vRS last year and noticed it being mentioned on here? I had new tyres fitted a few weeks back and had the wheels aligned but it still happens////

you could have a wheel thats buckled causing this or it could be simply less air in one tire than the other.

Inherent trait of the car! As long as it's a gentle pull then there's nothing to worry about!

If you fell asleep/sneezed/etc at the wheel, would you rather:

a ) go towards the kurb

b ) go into oncoming traffic

i notice with 16" it does it more than with 17"

Totally agree with this member, adding no uneven wear to tyres detected. ( Its called 'Torque Steer')emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Have we ever found "how" it does it though? What part or configuration is it that makes the Fabia so Camber sensitive?

Is it the rear axle non adjustable settings, as Basil claimed he corrected it with shims... and I think vRS203 fitted the shims as well.. did they work for you to, mate?

I've learned to live with the pull, when I fitted new tyres it lessened quite considerably.. but came back with tyre wear.

It feels so wrong though... surely "holding" the wheel to keep it straight wears out the tyres quicker?

there was a how to, it appeared on here a few months back, complete with diagrams etc

You have done everything you can. You will find that most cars veer to the left a little as the roads were created with a camber. The roads are angled very slightly so that surface water runs off to the edges on both sides of the road (and then into sewers etc).

The veering to the left phenomenon is noticeable on most cars, but it's more common on cars with very light power steering, as they require very little resistance for the wheels to turn so they are able to follow the contours of the road and turn themselves.

If you take your car to a completely flat car park, I bet it will drive in a straight line.

Didn't Skoda once issue a bulletin claiming that this weird 'characteristic' of the car was actually a safety feature of the car in case you fell asleep at the wheel so you would drift 'harmlessly' into the hard shoulder and not into oncoming traffic?! :giggle: :wonder: :dull:

If anyone asks lets just say its a safety feature.
