Shame really.

Aye, they're cheap and nasty. That's why I'm in the process of finding a leather retrimmer who'll be able to retrim the door cards in leather that matches my SE's seats. The previous owner of my car must have have nails like cats' claws because mine are plucked all over. I said plucked!

I think you'll find it extremely unlikely that someone with an SE would want to take out his leather seats for something else - unless he's got more money than sense. More likely you could get a set from a scrapped car - but everyone else will want them too...

Hey, it's the era of austerity. I know some folk who'd sell their own mother to get their hands on an SE!

There's a fair few of them up here in Edinburgh. Apparently, the wife of the owner of Chathams (Skoda, Honda, and possibly other makes) drives one. The strangest moment came when I was driving out of town, and another SE was driving the other way towards me, with the driver waving madly back at me! I thought I had my foglights on so had to stop to check, but they weren't. I think it was just mutual respect between SE owners!

Saying that, seeing other Atoms on the road must be as rare as hen's teeth! I've only seen one!

I was wondering when I mentioned it whether there was special SE etiquette to be followed in that context. The dealer 15 miles away where I bought it from says they sold 8 and there's another dealer nearer who probably sold some too, so there should be some about.

I didn't like to mention that since I've had the Atom - nearly two years - I've not seen another Atom when I've been out in it. Ariel have built around 700-800 though so the scarcity value is not that different to the SE - though of course they're probably not used as much.

Were there any non SE's came from the factory with leather? Reason I ask, my vRS is not an SE but it has leather interior.

No, but then the SE didnt come from the factory with leather either.

But the same leather kit was available as an accessory for a while and SEAT Surgeons have done loads.

It was a dealer-fit option from early 2006 * - but very expensive at £1,300 (excluding doors). It wasn't available for my 2004vRS when I bought it new so I had the car re-trimmed before I took delivery by a local upholsterer for £1,400 including doors. The Seat Surgeon costings are lower.

* - price noted as TBA in price lists downloaded 02/2006 and 05/2006 - price taken from 10/2006 download - doesn't feature in 12/2005 download at all

As Ross has mentioned, Seat Surgeons in york should be able to do just your door cards. Their full leather setup can be better than the OEM one anyway. Give them a call and see how much a full setup will cost you, and it will all match. They use your current seats for their full leather retrim.

Am I the only person who likes the standard door cards?

They're really easy to clean.. just rub them with a micro fiber and all marks disappear..

Having had the biscuit colored Elegance interior and I tell ya that they're not as bad as you think, those standard black door cards! :)
