EGR tube to exhaust?

Featured Replies

hey, over the past few weeks ive had an annoying noise, first thought to be a boost leak, then egr gasket then exhaust manifold gasket, all have been replaced and the problem still persists. according to the mechanic the problem is now a tube, he wasn 100% sure what its called, its a tube that runs down from below the egr valve onto the exhaust manifold, appears to be in two parts with a sort of flanged bit for flexing, theres a slit across the flexing part and is responsible for the noise. does anyone have any idea what this part is called?

has anyone else had this problem before?

many thanks in advance, jordan

EGR pipe I would guess.

EGR pipe I would guess.

its not one of the vacuum pipes visible from the engine bay, its below it and appears to be steel, shiny colour, any ideas?

Yeah I know what pipe you mean, just a guess at what it might be called.

Youll need a pipe and two gaskets.

thanks, are these gaskets for the join in the pipe and the connection? part of the kit possibly? any idea how much this may cost?

One gasket will go at the top of the pipe between the EGR valve and the pipe, the other onto the exhaust manifold.

Should take a dealer a couple of mins to find it on a ELSA.

+1 job done then, plus your car gets clean air

Matt

Or wait and I can supply you one for about 2/3 the cost of the jabba. See the car parts for sale section

ive been talking to numerous guys about removing it and all of them advise STRONGLY against it, not unless you want to blow it up that is lol

Well you must be talking to some numpty's!

i've had 3 130tdi's all with delete kits

funnily enough not one has blown up!

just called over to skoda today about the pipe, im hoping weve got our wires crossed, looking into the engine bay underneath the egr valve you can see a piping bending to the right, appears to kinked, probly done whenever fitting the new turbo, if its that thats split then its part of the egr cooler which is £242 plus vat!!! ouch!! im hoping this is not it because its not matching up with the description from the mechanic.

That'll be the pipe from the exhaust. Like he said a EGR delete pipe will sold all this for about £40ish

  • Author

id prefer not to go down the egr delete route, and thankfully the guy a skoda made a mistake, its not the egr cooler part that the split is in, its in the pipe behind it, connecting pipe it was called on the skoda parts system, £45, so not too bad thankfully.

£45 lol!!

you can get a delete kit for that!!

Old diesels never had EGR's it was only introduced for euro emissions malarchy!

EGR = BAD :thumbup:

Oh and i dont even think the fabia has a egr cooler, there just on golfs etc....

Why not just fit a simple blanking plate?

Why not just fit a simple blanking plate?

Because it blows the engine up ;) LOL

Because it blows the engine up ;) LOL

whatever lol :p i just want to keep it standard :) and it cost me £70 in the end :( lol

oh and they do have a egr cooler ;) thats what skoda told me that i needed lol bull****!! lol

I have a complete EGR cooler kit complete (second hand) if you want it.

Assume yours has the large cylinder thing attached to the back of the inlet manifold etc? The later ones came with the cooler but the earlier ones just had a pipe going from EGR to manifold. The coolers are a lot more complicated / bulky, so can see why £242 is what they cost.... Mine won't be though. ;)

(You won't need the EGR bit itself from this pic)
