Another aux in problem, was it standard on an 08 Fabia 3

Featured Replies

I'm nearly a week into my new (to me) Fabia 3 and warming to it nicely. There is one thing that bugs me though, its lack of aux in socket.

It's an 08 model year with a Dance radio and even a aux in cover and hole near the 12v socket. It has lots of other toys, cruise control etc., and the option codes do show 8 speakers but no mention of aux in.

Anyone here got the 08 brochure, did it show aux in as standard for the Fab 3 1.4td. The radio booklet states that the dance radio takes MP3 but would the wiring be in place as far as the 12v console, I want to connect my iPhone, it's my sat nav, TV and iPod, oh  and phone.

Any advice/info would be appreciated.

Our 08 MY Sport came with an Aux in socket but TBH its a waste of time

ear Pods connect to it but no information is given in the display.

Get some MP3 CD's made instead..or MDi connection and cable.

Might be worth having a poke about inside the console with a torch of there is a hole there, my previous Roomster had a habit of falling through onto the console.

if you enable it in the dance menu, then it should work.

What you get is very basic, using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable plug one end into the headphone jack of your device, and the other into the aux socket and you should get sound from the headunit. Adjust both volume one hu and connected device until the volume level is right.

Thanks for the info/advice folks.

I've had a torch down the hole and can't see anything, no wire or female socket but it's difficult to see anyway and how did you get it back in place if it has fallen through.

Is the MDi connection via the aux in socket, I'd like all the apps on the iPhone, sat nav, music, phone etc., to work via the car radio and speakers.

My last and least favoured option is the FM transmitter route. I don't think I've got MaxiDot if that's relevant at all.

If its fallen through and you can find it it just clips back in place from underneath. There is a plastic oblong panel underneath the handbrake lever that unclips if you pull it up, this should give you more access.

use the aux for ipod 3.5 jack to 3.5 jack plug in ipod same as headfones in menu on radio select aux. you can get a mdi that conects to your cd interchanger on the back of your radio it is called a DENSION 100 adaptor around £130 with this you can plug phone ipod etc. you can then use your radio to change your ipod tracks and it displays on the radio aswell PS.WITH YOU HAVING A FABIA 3 YOU WILL NEED A DENSION 100 ADAPTOR TO BE COMPATABLE WITH MAXI DOT.

I have a 2008 58 Roomster 3 with the aux in socket so would have thought you should have one. We use it with a portable dvd player and get the sound through the radio via 3.5 mm to 3.5mm lead.

Thanks Tsi Fly for the nod on getting to under the aux in. I've managed to pull out a plastic connector with four coloured wires that may be for the aux in, but it doesn't have the female 3.5mm jack within the connector bracket. Its not for the 12v, that still works as does the handbrake warning light.

I've tried making access easier by trying to get the leather handbrake cover off and the square aux in frame and cover next to the 12v socket, how do you get the :swear: blighters off, I've managed to get this far via the oblong plastic cover but I can't see how i could get the thing clipped back in even if I had the female part. Is there a way in if the armrest was removed. :wall: :wall:

I presume MaxiDot wasn't standard but an option on an 08 Fab 3, I was hoping I'd got it. :envy:

Cheers.

I managed to get my aux plug back in without removing the console, but its my job doing this sort of thing.

4 very thin wires sounds about right, left & right and two grounds. looks like you might need to get a new 3.5mm aux socket and holder from your dealer if its not in there.

when you have one it just pushes into place from below IIRC. you might loose some skin doing it though!
