Alloy wheels

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I have recently bought a Felicia 1.3 LXI and pick it up this coming thursday, i am considering pitting 17" alloy wheels with 205/40 tyres on, do you guys know if they will fit?

Cheers Dave

any more details of the wheels.. width, offset etc??

although i must say that felicia's handle really badly with huge wheels on.. 15" is the practical limit in my opinion, but i'm sure others will have a different opinion

Tyres are 205mm wide with a 40% aspect ratio, they are team dynamics jet 17" rims in silver, they do look pretty awesome B)

Tyres are 205mm wide with a 40% aspect ratio,

:giggle: yes i gathered that from your first post....

with a 205 tyre they must be a 7j or 7.5j width rim? that's very wide for a felicia.. you might need spacers to stop it fouling on the track control arms at full lock

its a 7j and would a rack limiter be better as a spacer would push the wheels past the arches

don't know.. possibly, i suppose the best thing to do is try them on there first to find out for sure

ok ill try, ill let you know how it works out next week thanks for the help :)

I had 16s on my fun then swapped to 15s, much better IMHO.

does the fun have the same size wheel arches? did the 16's look ok and do you think 17's will go under?

if you care at all about handling/performance stick to standard size.

if you do switch to bigger wheels, keep in mind it will affect speedo/odo accuracy

not if you use the correct tyres it wont.

How should different tyres have different effects on the speedo/odo

I think your going to struggle with 17 tbh and its going to look like a tractor

any pics?

When I had my Felicia which was a 1.3 LXi, it had 16 inch speedlines on it which were 7 inch wide - not sure what the offset was but with 205/40x16 tyres they didn't catch or foul on anything and they were the correct rolling radius compared to the original 13 inch wheels and tyres so the speedo still read correctly.

It did have coilover suspension on it though - not sure if they would have caught on the larger spring seats at all with the standard suspension. I'll post up some pics when I get home this evening.

As promised, couple of pics of my old Felicia - wasn't very standard as you can see! B)

WTF is that nose haha, looks pretty cool tho, ive just put them on now, and they only foul on full lock left :S anyway its only a tiny bit and i know how far i can turn the wheels, handles better than the standard and my speedo was out by about 5mph at 30 anyway so it works out fine, will check and probably drive round with a speed checker my dad has

anyhow these are a couple pics ive taken cos the wheels only been on about 10 mins :p

hey that actually looks ok with those wheels on.. where does the wheel foul on full lock? the arch?

Ditto, here I was thinking 17s would look silly, especially as I'm not much of a fan of such things, but that really does look really quite smart. Nice one!

...handles better than the standard and my speedo was out by about 5mph at 30 anyway so it works out fine...

16% error like that should be an MOT fail is just about acceptable. Maybe like mine it had the wrong tyres to begin with? (should have been 165/70R13) Technically 205/30R17 should be the correct profile - if the speedo isn't dodgy then the 40 profile should make it under-read which again is a definite MOT fail is technically not allowed, so I would definitely check it like you said and hope any errors cancel each other out!

edit: I must remember to check information I believe to be true before passing it on. It seems no-one regularly enforces type approval.

yeah but 30% profile tyres cost a mint.. would be better off with 195/40R17 on there :S
