TSI ticking noise

Featured Replies

Hi all i am wondering what the black plastic round unit is ontop of the engine rocker cover next to the coilpacks (under the plastic tsi engine cover)?

I will post a pic asap of the unit but its making a constant ticking noise when i start the car and want to know what its job is before i investigate it further.

Seems to me as if its something to do with controlling boost but any help appreciated.

I would be interested to know what this is, as mine does exactly the same thing.

I have never worried about it, just one of its many gizmos doing its job no doubt.

Yea used to get a intermittent ticking on my leon but this is constant and a little loud for my liking. Gonna do some digging this week into what the unit is for and will post for future reference.

Its the crank case ventilation unit after looking at the workshop guide so will have to find out why the noise is there with it. Bit of a strange one really

An old thread I know but I noticed this today!

I noticed it on mine as soon as i picked it up and the dealer tech said it was normal and nothing to worry about.

Sure it is not the injectors? They making a high speed ticking noise due to the pressure they are under

Could well be the injectors and would make sense

The ticking is caused by the metal jacket of the fuel hose hitting the cooling liquid jar. This issue is common among 1.2 tsi.

Different engine, different symptoms. The injectors on 1.2 are under a different pressure.

Its the injectors mines does the same i wouldnt worry.
