Just wanted to pass on how to tell fairly quickly if a car has DPF.

The exhaust fumes have a kind of 'sweet' smell as opposed to the normal 'sooty' smell of a diesel.

Thing is that these things casue a lot of problems and money. I now that it's part of teh Euro regs and all but the only advantage o these is the reduced 'soot' expulsion to the atmosphere. Having a DPF does not necessarily mean reduced CO.

It actually increases the CO2 output as it has to waste fuel heating up the filter to burn off the particles.

No problems here with a DPF equipped car with relatively low mileage that does lots of short runs... :thumbup:
