Have YOU got a phantom flasher in YOUR Yeti?

Featured Replies

T'other night ere I went home, I popped in to the local Co-op to stock up on a few cans and bottles and bits of steak and that sort of stuff.

Then I headed off up the lanes, twiddling along as usual - except that the seatbelt light kept flashing at me, and chiming away intermittently.

I fiddled with the belt, unplugged it and plugged it in again, stopped and opened and shut the door - all to no avail. It kept flashing me, and seemed to be more insistent when negotiating any corners.

Was it trying to tell me something, I wondered?

Then I realised. My highly intelligent Yeti was convinced that there was someone sat in the passenger's seat because of the weight of the shopping, and every time I cornered it triggered the sign for the seatbelt.

And no, I didn't belt the bag up! I shoved it on the floor, and smiled, and drove home - relieved!

Hi George,

my good lady learnt that one from our previous Golf :giggle: anyway what's wrong with the boot

Precious cargo should be in full view of the driver :D

My Volvo did the same, it drove me nuts. It took me quite some time to work out what was causing it so you are not alone. I now use the shopping hooks in the boot of my Yeti which are placed in just the right spot and height, first time ever in a car that I have had.

Friends had the opposite the other day in a press Jaguar XKR. The passenger was so slight that the car thought the seat was empty and thus turned the passenger airbag off with a visible sign somewhere!!! They were not impressed and had to drive the whole trip from London to Wales and back without a passenger airbag. emoticon-0136-giggle.gif I wonder how posh Spice manages it then if David is driving? Maybe she also just adds some shopping to her lap? (Which my friends did not do as it will be uncomfortable over such a long trip!)

Likewise - my Golf - which I otherwise loved - had an particularly nasty continuous bleeping. Since I often had stuff on the seat (probably a bad idea!) I had thought to get a belt fastener at a breakers - just to plug it in and silence it. The Yeti's warning notes are much more refined!
