Read in a recent magazine article (Autocar 21/28 dec) that A Fabia WRC may be in the pipeline for the road sporting the 197bhp 2.0l turbo?

That would be some beast of a car! I wonder if it could still be modded up like the current fabias to get even more out of it?!

Welcome to briskoda, this is correct, it was discussed on a previous thread, after an article in the Auto express just before Autocar printed.

The Chairman of Skoda implied that it will be a road version of the WRC car ( full WRC kit ), most likely as a limited addition and a rumoured price between

I think all the chairman said was "the company is keen to make the most of its rally championship participation in 2005 by bringing

I know this was talked about but why would Skoda do this, I mean make one their supermini's faster than there flagship cars ?

Good PR maybe?

Cos it is want the masses want

Would that be the same engine shared in the new MK 5 Golf GTI and Audi A3 2.0FSI turbo?

Well 197bhp does match the new GTI power output and the way VW work I wouldn't be suprised if it was the same engine. Weird though that they have put the 197bhp lump in the new GTI instead of using the existing 225bhp lump from the Audi TT

If your referring to the 1.8T (225) that the TT uses, I think they are using the 2.0 T (200 bhp) because they're trying to get their FSI technology into all the new cars. All the new petrol engines that are being used in the new Golf and Audi are FSI I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)
