the 13 inch 128gb one

is this a good sspec? i mainly use for surfing the internet and the occational tv catch up, whats peoples opinions? i will use my old on for music downloading (buying)

I changed my laptop from windows to a mac and never looked back. OSX is easier to use and is more reliable, you'll soon use it more than a windows PC. I use mine at home, and in the office I use it as my main computer connected to an external monitor/keyboard and mouse. I hardly use windows these days, except where I need to for work and even then I Remote Desktop from my mac to a Windows XP machine.

Those are the new Macbook airs, just releasted and the spec looks just fine for the air. You wont get a faster CPU in the air, as due to its size anything faster will not get enough cooling. For what you want thats fine though, if you need more power consider the 13" Macbook pro which is cheaper, has more ram and a faster CPU. The MBP is slightly thicker, and has a conventional HDD.

If you are going to be lugging it around a lot, then the MacBook Air is a good bet. If the laptop will stay at home most of the time you might be better off with a full-size MacBook.

The Air is light & compact but lacks an optical drive.

Is it really necessary to spend all the money on a Mac, for something used for a bit of surfing, and some TV catch up?

Surely a netbook, or budget laptop would do exactly the same job as the Mac, for a far cheaper price.

I have a Mac Book Pro

I'll never go back to a Windows based PC
