Octavia Scout - Maxidot

Featured Replies

Confused, I was on the understanding that if you specify Maxidot as a cost option then you get the 'Multi Function Steering Wheel' (MFSW) too?

I must be mistaken, this pre-FL Scout on Autotrader appears to have Maxidot but is missing the buttons on the steering wheel :wonder:

When I orded mine Maxidot was standard equipment, MFSW was a cost option !

You dont need the MFSW to work the maxidot, in fact on the Octavia even with the MFSW it does not control the maxidot. The MFSW has always been a cost option, the Maxidot came as standard if you had a Nav system, like the car in the link has a dated MFD2.

Ah, makes sense now, thanks.

I thought Maxidot and the MFSW came as one. I was wrong.

Thanks for the clarification guys

You are almost right :)

Maxidot and MFSW do come as a single option. However, you can have maxidot without MFSW but you cannot have MFSW without maxidot.

Cheers! I learnt about Maxidot (and it's benefits) after I bought my Scout :'(

Always on the look out for another - I rate our current model very highly.

A lot of private dealers (and Skoda main dealers for that matter) don't list this feature on their adverts so I always look for the MFSW to tell if it's fitted or not.

Seems I can still do this, unless the car has Nav of course!

Pre facelift it is easy to tell a maxidot - you can tell the difference by looking in the window or at the dealers internal photo. The standard display is LCD, black digits on olive background that occupies the top half of the central part of the display with the other half as warning lights. Maxidot takes up the whole of the central part of the display and is white on black.

Facelift more difficult to tell as they are both the same size and both are white on black so you need to get in the car to see the difference.

With maxidot, even without the ignition on, as soon as you open a door you see a top view of the car showing which door is open. The bottom line of the display shows total and trip miles on the same line. The individual digits are made from tiny dots. When you switch on the ignition the display says something like "Skoda Information System" for a few seconds before showing the display.

Non-maxidot doesn't have the door display and has trip and total miles on 2 separate lines at the bottom of the display. The digits are made up from sectors like the old LCD display.

I was looking at this at the weekend! Mate has FL no Maxidot and I was looking to see the difference between his display and my FL Maxidot.

The MFSW controls the maxidot in my Octavia... I don't have the stalk buttons, just the MFSW buttons
