Felicia tyre sizes?

Featured Replies

I'm struck by what seems like an oddity and wonder if anyone knows the answer.

The standard tyre size for basic trim Felicias is 165/70R13 - I think this is the same as the Favorit. But other Felicias have 185/60R14 which is about 3% different. Did cars with the larger tyres have different speedometers to take into account this difference?

It struck me that if the speedo's are the same then 175/60R14 would have been closer to the original size.

the speedo dive mech is the same in all of them... don't forget to factor in the width of the wheel when making tyre choices, the R14 rims are wider. 3% is perfectly fine tbh

Hey

if you want the speedo to read accurate to within 1mph get some 205/40 17" when my speedo reads 30 im actually doing 29 :D

Hmmm, according to my 1998 handbook, the only standard tyre size for factory 14" wheels is 175/60R14. And width-wise they're 5 1/2J, same as the 13" alloys (compared to 4 1/2J for the basic steels)

I calculated the closest to the original 165/70R13 for 17" wheels should be 185/35 ;-)

according to my 1998 handbook, ...

Useful information, thanks!
