Wot No Bonnet Strut ?

Featured Replies

There's only on thing on my little skud missile that annoy's me(apart from cold start noise)and that's the fact I have to lift(the Veryheavy)Bonnet with no assistance...

Does anyone know where I can get gas struts - do any other models have them.I can't beleive Skoda doesn't fit them standard - they can't be that expensive-can they ???

Still if that's as bad as it get's can't really grumble can I ? - only takes a quick blast to cheer myself up :D

I'm pretty sure that someone out there has done it although I can't find any reference on this forum. Could have been on VWVortex or Skoda Motorsport WRT, but there again it could have been a Golf or even a SEAT owner. But the thread I saw did include photos and instructions on how to fit a pair of gas-filled struts, and I do remember thinking that I might do the same to my car one day.

i do belive the superb has these.

Yes - it has one gas-filled strut fitted on the passenger's side. Any Superb owners up and about who might be able to park their car alongside an Octavia and see if the part might fit? And any brave souls out there who would be prepared to remove the rear struts and see if they could be adapted to fit under the bonnet? thinks.gif

KarlRS has done this, although I cant find anything on this forum I do have a pic, here you go.

Well done, Manny. Now can you find the thread with fitting instructions? :)

I'm moving this to styling, as it is a mod of sorts.

Yes Karl has them fitted, I don't, however, think he posted instructions.

You may be able to get them through butts as well. www.jhmbuttco.com I think

Why not try SEAT? Doesn't the Cupra R have a bonnet strut?

golfs have the strut.. im sure it could be bolted on... but im not bothering as weight saving is the next quest... now wheres my laxatives!

Venom Motorsport do them for 23 squids! (go to products, exterior, bonnet lifters). I'm sure the Golf MK4 ones would be OK.

Saw bonnet strut on mark IV Golf at Jabba; nice.

Would have to mod bonnet and attach a mount to the suspension tower.

You're full of useful links today, Dave :D
