A big question I am trying to sort, and being given all sorts of different advice. So I thought I would put it to you guys. Im putting the MX5 away at the end of the month until March / April time so do I change the transmission and diff oil now or leave it until after the winter? The Coolant is also a horrid brown colour, do I change it now, or leave it over the winter? It currently reads to -12 when tested (god knows how!)

Many thanks

Why not flush the coolant and renew with good stuff now and keave the oils until March/April. At least that way, you'll know that your engine isn't going to crack!

Depends how valuable it is to you.

I'd certainly do the coolant.

If the oils are not in great condition, then I'd be tempted to replace the engine oil to get rid of any nasty acids(put cheap stuff in) etc and leave the box and diff oils until the new year.

In the new year I'd then change the engine oil again for good stuff and also change the diff and box oils.

Thanks for the replies. I am tempted to do the coolant before putting it away.

The engine oil has recently been done (500 miles max ago), I was worried about the gear oil and diff oil as we don't know when these were last done. As you have said these can probably wait until after the winter

Cheers
