water ingress problem in skoda superb greenline 2010

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I did ask my question last month about water ingress and people told me to check the pollen filter. last monday it was heavy downpour and it started to leak again, when i checked the pollen filter it as completely dry. But when i put my hand beside the pollen filter on the cushion underneath the mat it was soaking wet. It rained all day and i noticed that same evening the passanger side footwell was wet in one corner. I took the car to my dealer and informed that the same problem, He said he will try to find the problem this time. can you guys tell me is this a common problem in skoda?. whats the reason for this leak on a brand new car. if this problem keeps happening, Do i have to go to skoda irland and do formal complaint. Please support and suggest some comments. iam lost with this problem.

thanks

Well mine lives outside and is always completely dry inside no matter what the weather is doing, rain or snow its always been dry.

Very annoying I know, but it doesn't surprise me one bit, has VAG actually ever built a model that does not leak somewhere?

If mine ever turns up emoticon-0114-dull.gif , then one of the first jobs I will be doing is looking around the plenum chamber etc for any grommets that can potentially block up and remove them

I had a Cavalier that leaked in the footwell and that was because the windscreen wasn't bonded in properly, the leak was at the top of the screen but ran round the edges and down the A piller trim so the water dripped down the back of the A pilalr trim in the footwell and on to the ECU. End result was a burnt out ECU, so a screen worth a couple hundred pounds caused about £2K damage.

A six month old Ford Escort LX I had leaked in the boot due to the seam sealer being incorrectly applied so letting water in, that took 6 weeks to diagnose before sent the car to their rally place at the time at Boreham for the rear of the car to be seam welded.

So some trim might need removing so the leak becomes visible.

No idea if there is the ECU or vital electrics around the screen and bulk head of a Superb as mine hasn't arrived yet.

I have this problem with mine so it seems!

After the shocking downpours over the last few days here i noticed water DRIPPING! out from under the glovebox. I took the pollen filter out and the 'lid' which keeps the pollen filter in place was wet on the inside. I did take the car back to the garage when this happened a few weeks ago, but they couldn't find anything! So I am going to book it in again!

I did some more investigating today and not only is the pollen filter wet, but the wire loom that enters the car in the passenger side footwell also had water running along it!

I am getting seriously narked off with this car, first the boot and now this. Come on VW can you not make a car that doesnt suffer water ingress this way??

Hi Folks,

I am having the similar issue. The passanger side footwell was wet in one corner, the pollen filter was completely dry. Did the dealer managed to fix the root cause??

My old Passat had a serious leak problem in the passenger footwell on several occassions, again down the front windscreen not sealing properly.

Hi Folks,

The local Skoda dealer manage to find the leak path. In was a soft weld seal below the wiper compartment(Near to passenger's corner). They remove all the old seal and re-patch a new seal.
