I need Bluetooth for my iPhone 4 for my 2010 Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've just took delivery of my Octavia VRS and it's got the Bolero head unit and when looking through the options and setting I came across a Bluetooth option which I enabled but can't pair my phone up, so I'm guessing it's not for the phone setup.

I'm on call with my job so I'd like to have Bluetooth fitted to the car and ideally have it fed through the Sterio.

I've been searching on here and came across a few different options but don't know what's best...

1. Get a Columbus head unit, I see one in the For Sale section but does it have all the bits to do bluetooth calling?

2. Get a Fiscon unit

3. Nokia CK7W Bluetooth car kit ( I noticed someone had fitted one and said it worked with the sterio) cheap on Ebay at around £40?

Anything else I should consider?

Cheers

have you got the factory fitted bluetooth installed? if not that will explain why you can't pair your phone

Like the Bolero you have, the bluetooth isn't built in. You need a seperate module.

2. Get a Fiscon unit

Expensive (£300+) but will interface with the maxidot display well if you have it.

3. Nokia CK7W Bluetooth car kit ( I noticed someone had fitted one and said it worked with the sterio) cheap on Ebay at around £40?

Very basic but works ok, I had one in a Passat circa 2004-2005. Can be sensitive to microphone placement for best results as the echo-cancellation is relatively unsophisticated.

Anything else I should consider?

My colleague has had a Bury kit installed to his 2010 VRS hatch. His is a variation on the CC 9060 called the Bury Music which provides iPod connectivity. Probably a good middle ground between the basic Nokia and the expensive Fiscon. You should be able to get the 9060 supplied and fitted for around £200, the music version will be a bit more.

Take a look at the Nokia CK200 about £99, I fitted one to my new fabia and it works a treat with my iPhone 4 with 1 click switching to my works nokia 3110 classic.

It's a lease car so I didn't know what options it came with.

I'm happy to pay a couple of hundred if I get something decent.

Cheers for the replies.

Looks a very nice bit of kit for the money.\

Depends how much you want to spend really, and what features you want

Thats the one I'm ordering for mine, OEM and it integrates with the car fully and does music streaming etc etc.

I'm very interested in this OEM option but in the add it mentions being only for the white Dot Matrix and I'm not sure if mines is the same thing....mines is below...

And this is my headunit

If this will work and stream music then I'll order it when I get paid at the end of the month

Cheers again for all the replies

We fit the original VAG unit which will give you touchscreen integration with your Bolero unit (as pictured) and you can also stream music via Bluetooth with it.

We supply and fit for £350.

If you weren't 5 hours drive away I'd mostly likely go for that especially with you being a sponsor too

Anyone know of a company in Central Scotland that could supply and fit the original VAG bluetooth unit to integrate with my Bolero unit (as pictured above)

Anyone ?

I would second the Bury suggestion from above. I am now on my second unit (fitted to my last 2 cars). The functionality on them is brillinat and they now have a firmware upgrade to allow 2 phones to be paired at the same time and also voice activation of voice control. The voice control does not need teaching, you just say a name in your address book and it will find it. I got my last one fitted for £170 from Halfords. Every fitter that has seen it has been really impressed and say they are better than the equivalent Parrott system.

  • 1 month later...

I have the Parrot MKi 9200 fitted to my VRs, It integrates with the stereo switching music/radio off when calling, it works very well as a bluetooth hands free kit and allows connection of all manner of input device (SD card, USB stick, Ipod, etc)

It is around £230 fitted http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits gives the info.

CRS in Perth fitted mine and made a great job of it. I have an Octavia Scout on order and have specified it be fitted with the same kit pre delivery as it will also connect to the wifes' Iphone and will charge it as she listens to her music. It has worked well (though I had to upgrade the firmware via a USB stick a it would not recognise my Ipod).

Good luck with the sneaking away ;-)

I have this system fitted to my Scout. The display is located on the silver trim above the glove box on a tiltable display and can easily be adjusted for day/night. The controller is located just above the Bolero, both of which are removable, the display has a handy little case. Parrot suggest that you place the mike near the rear view mirror, but I had it placed in the A pillar. You can pair up to 10 phones with this system (can't vouch for that, I'm afraid), but call quality is excellent with full iPod/iPhone integration. It also charges iPhone as well.

Will try to arrange some pics one I finish work.

Halfors sell the system for £200 with free fitting.:thumbup:

Cheers Fin pictures would be good, did you get Halfords to fit yours...if so Which shop?

Yes. Originally got it fitted at their Hamilton branch, but there were problems from the outset. The unit was continually on, even when the ignition was off! Went to their Clydebank store and the guy there was brand new. He replaced everything and started from scratch, and touch wood, everything works perfectly. Even though the mike is on the drivers A-pillar, it will still pick up passengers voices.

I notice that Halfords have it on offer for £170, but fitting is now £20. Swings and roundabouts. Swings and roundabouts!!!:giggle:

Will try to post some phots soon.

Is this layout not a little dangerous in the event of an accident where the passenger airbag deploys? What happens to the display then?

Personally, I would prefer the display a little closer to me (maybe above the Bolero). Sure the controls could be placed somewhere suitable still

Always a possibility, as is the chances of being injured by a dash/window mounted satnav, or a vent mounted airfreshener. Hopefully, I would never have to put that to the test or Mrs H ain't gonna be happy!:wall:

Unfortunately, the FL Octy does not lend itself well to adding displays, controllers, etc for phones around the central console. We tried to locate the display near the Bolero, but due to the footprint of the mount, or the size of the display, it would obscure a button(s), or would block part of the air vent or the hazard switch. The location where it is placed in mine seemed ideal at the time, and in the unfortunate situation of the passenger airbag deploying, it was hoped that the material covering the airbag would deflect/capture the display as it fell away from the dash. Perhaps that should be part of the NCAP test!!!:giggle:

Hopefully, these have attached properly. Sorry, about the quality, but I only have my iFin with me at work. The microphone mounted on the A-pillar looks closer than it actually is. I keep the controller permanently on the dash, but remove the display when out and about.

Hope this helps.
