WHAT GEARBOX OIL FOR ROOMSTER

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what grade the gearbox oil for the Roomster Scout 1.9 Tdi is?

Looking at an old Haynes VW Golf manual from 2004 I am guessing its fully synthetic.

When ever I purchase a new second-hand car I always check the gearbox oil level.

It would be good to have some to hand before I start.

My spares part of my Esewin manual doesn’t work yet (well it was a free addition)

Thanks to these forum pages I have learnt about the special Tdi engine oil requirement for to the special VW505-01 STANDARD

But Goggl-ing on the computer for the gearbox oil has got me nowhere.

Can,t find any info in the owners handbook.

Most oil manufacterers sites say refer to manual , and I also looked into a new Halfords where I live and that said refer to owners manual.

Only one site suggested using ordinary bog standard gearbox oil , so perhaps thats the answer.

Just a guess from a not-so-technical guy: I guess the gearbox (especially a manual) is more or less the same, so I don't think the Roomster gearbox has any special needs regarding the oils. The engine oil is a completely different story, especially the longlife oils...
