Brand New VRS Ordered

Featured Replies

Just ordered a nice new VRS (upgrading from the Fabia VRS) wont get it until March 2011 but a cracking deal. I have never bought a car brand new collecting from main dealers etc is there anything I need to look out for bar the obvious?

take a second set of eyes to check the body work. When you go to pick it up the excitement can and will probably cause the "rose tinted glasses" effect.

I think polocoupe has nailed it. You'll be so excited to get your new car, it'll be hard to be objective.

aye been caught out before so I know it can be easy!

Just common sense make sure the paper work it correct and accounted for. Most salesmen will rush you through the hand over so if your unsure on anything ask. Make a check list of the things that you need to make sure have been done (extra fitted, paint protection, GAP insurance etc).

Check the locking wheel nut "key" is in the boot.

aye was caught out on a car i bought years ago 2nd hand forgot to check and didnt have one luckily realised before I needed it and removed them bought new ones that shall not happen again had almost forgotten giid thinking

Don't fall for that cr*p about extras...gap insurance, servicing deals etc after you've negotiated the deal.

The only thing I would be cautuous of is the ex-convicts who are hired to wash and valet your vehicle.

Naturally to them your car is 'just another job' so they will probably wash your freshly delivered car with a sponge and one bucket.

A cardinal sin.

If you have any sort of love for a vehicle you'll know that their valeting skills will only make work for you.

Only pray to god that their washing are very light and without too much grit and dirt.

Your car is your life. Your child. Your soul.

Too them its a number. One in. One out...

As most probably your car will be "Washed and Polished" before you even see it, I doubt if you will have any control or knowledge of any one who has carried out any sort of "work" on your car.

Check all the wheels have 5 bolts in them and the garage hasn't just removed a standard bolt from each wheel then forgotten to put the locking bolts in :dull:

Check the servicing interval is set as you want it :dull:

Check the alloys for scratches because they'll be hard to claim against if you've driven the car.

Not to me it isn't, it's a mode of transport...

There is a new car checklist on here somewhere, posted by wardth I believe, which you should download and take with you.
