My new wheels

Featured Replies

A few weeks back I bought a set of 17' 7.5j Audi TT 6 spokes from Andy68 off here,

apart from some bits of paint flaking off, they were actually pretty good, with no major lumps missing out of them.

anyway, I wasn't too keen on the black, and fancied something a little bit different, so I cracked out the sandpaper & some primer, made a "well ventilated spray booth" (a workmate, & a "borrowed" road-sign in my back garden) and got to work.

It was at this point that I realised that A) I don't have the patience to paint things, B ) I'm a little bit crap at painting & C) It would have cost me about £100 in primer, paint & lacquer.

So I had a bit of a re-think, then took my wheels to a company in Leeds that dipped, blasted & powder coated them in Kawasaki green.

The pics vary in colour, due to dodgy light :(, they are actually a fair bit brighter in the flesh! and I love them :D

Ewwww. Much prefer the white primer.

Awesome, a man after my own heart, I love loud rims!

Ahh now they are brilliant

Sweet. I had green rims at one time. They were darker though.

Get your white primer from the pound shop if you're on a budget - top tip :)

Looks awesome mate! Can't wait to see them wrapped in some decent rubber and on the car B)

I was so close to doing the exact same in the summer. Looking forward to seeing them finished.

Ive got a set of S3 Avus wheels for mine, trying to decide if im going to do black/white or something brighter.

:giggle: hehe whens the rubber going on, im curious to see these on and the car sat down :smirk:

Sanp! mine are black, shame your not closer, could have tried them on

I like 'em, but you'll need to be bold and pick out some details in that green to make the most it. I'd go for painting the roof and door mirrors in matching green.

I had gloss black ones on the Combi, nice wheels if rather heavy. 70quid for a set, billy bargain and four Parada 2 tyres for 60, still got 6mm on em :)

Cheers for all the comments guys! I very nearly went for fluroscent yellow, but am really glad I didn't!

It'll be a while till I can put rubber around the wheels, as insurance is due next week, and decent rubber is about £100 a corner.

you'll get

proxes, rainsports, avon zz3's, kumho

all around 65-70 quid a corner

;)

Ok, let me re-word my last post ;)

I'm a bit of a tart, and want Goodyear eagle f1's as I like the tires, they grip like poo on a blanket, look nice and last quite well, handle a tiny bit of stretch and are a fair bit cheaper than Toyo r888's :)

I know, was parked next to it past two days :giggle: Not sure if i want to stick with the audi caps or put smaller skoda ones in like the combi has. Thats a bargain! I paid £330 but they did have 4 near brand new tyres on.

As I've just realised that the centrecaps from my current alloys wont fit, I've just bought some plain 60mm caps off ebay.

Who is it on here that makes the custom centrecap sticker/badges type things??

Goodyears are good, but you can't go wrong with these, especially for the price.
