Short answer... no. Why'd you want to jap a skoda for anyway?!

erm because he uses it as a track car so maybe to save weight?????????? :wonder:

Exactly

Any help???

dont think there is a big enough market for a skoda specific one, havent ever seen one for sale.

several people on clubgti.com have made them for the mk2 golf, maybe try a specific carbon fibre supplier and see if they will make you one.....just make sure you are sitting down when they give you the price!!!!

it was looked into by a couple of members and they where in contact with a company to make one but the outlay to pay for the mould etc etc was into ££££'s before you even got one so unless you have say 30 people wanting one it just wasnt practicle.

you could just cut off all the support arms under the hood this saves a few lbs as done on jabba's cupra

or get somebody who's handy with fibreglass to take a mould of your bonnet and produce you a fibreglass one

There's loads of excess metalwork on the bonnet - if you put some proper racing bonnet fasteners on to hold the front and back down, recon you could cut out a few kg of weight in the framework supporting the bonnet

If you're doing it for weight reduction what does it matter what it looks like?

I had a carbon bonnet on my old track saxo and got a roasting from a load of members when I painted it the same colour as the rest of the car. I also had a fibreglass tailgate and that was painted up too. Looked far better in my opinion

I know it doesn't really help your quest to find carbon parts though!

You could try speaking to streamline carbon or CCF (google search should bring them up)

Agreed. What's the point in covering the fibreglass panels with a carbon-look sticker! It'll just make it heavier again, and will look pap!

Personally I hate all the carbon-look bullsh*t!

A while back someone on here covered their bonnet and roof with carbon-look vinyl. Most people on here bummed it and thought it was real! If you've worked with carbon fibre it's pretty obvious to spot the real deal.

davojuri, get those GRP panels! Then pop some plastic windows in the doors and boot, and you'll have a superlight Skoda! Your car is going to be a weapon by the looks of things!

... found this on ebay ...

Well found

Anyone got any ideas how much the OE bonnet weights ?

7.5Kg is still a bit of weight - recon a DIY GRP bonnet could be lighter - strip out the underside support beams ?

I would imagine an OE bonnet would be 30+kgs. (moved quite a few OE bonnets around and they are 'kin heavy)

7.5kgs is light and if you strip all the support beams out from underneath the bonnet then it will just bow up in the middle when the air gets under it (when you are driving), no point it making it super lightweight if it looks sh#te.

i weighs fecking lots lol

i would gestimate around 20kg's ++

not with proper motorsport clips it wouldn't

You could lose alot of those supports without effecting shape - like the plastic bonnets now used in lot of motorsport cars in place of carbon (why use carbon on a non-structural part ?)

You're not likely to had a pedestrain roll over the bonnet of a track car, so it only really need to be strong enough to defect wind.

hmmm recon it would bow if you had no supports and only clip it at the front sides and back like is usual, you would need clips in the middle to stop it bowing there.

wind is very persuasive like making cabrio hoods baloon when driving down the motorway.
