Has my car been remapped?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have recently bought a 2nd hand Skoda Fabia VRS in silver and other than putting it on a rolling road to get its bhp or letting them check the ECU, is there any way of knowing if the car has been remapped?

I've done a quick search and did not find anything on the forum. The engine bay looks standard and the air intake has not be swapped out for the pd160 so my gut says no.

I do not yet have any cables or software for accessing the ECU. The car is very fast but I came form a 1.4 Megane so I do not know if it is just "Stock" fast.

Many Thanks,

SaV

coming from a 1.4 megane, it'll feel like driving a f1 car!

Any good company which do remaps, will be able to tell you if it has been remapped.

Hope this helps!

Chris

Someone with vagcom can also run group 11 log whilst running in the car with you, and if boost is over 1.3 bar, then you know its been mapped. Usually a decent remap will request between 1.5 and 1.6 bar from the turbo. :)

The kick from the turbo can make the car seem very fast beofe you become accustomed to it. In reality it's not gonna scare any serious hot hatches but it does pull well in gear. I for one have never got bored of the power delivery and I've had mine for 3 1/2 years.
