Dealer Activated Functions

Featured Replies

Thorougly enjoying the Skoda experience. Love my car to bits, It's a Scout - Enough said!

However, one thing I wish that I had is Maxidot. I didn't realise just how useful it would be when it came to customisation of certain functions, as a consequence I now find myself in need of a visit to my dealer to rectify these. Can anyone tell me if the following is able to be activated by the dealer;

1) The central locking to self lock above a certain speed.

2) The second rear fog light to be activated.

3) I have read in some threads that if you have the electric mirror position in the 'L' position when reversing, the mirror will automatically tilt. I can't get this to activate. Does this happen in certain models? I don't have the folding mirror function.

4) To unlock ALL doors with one plip of the remote. The look on my wifes face as I'm sat roasty toasty and dry in the car as she is frantically pulling on the passenger door handle in the middle of a downpour never fails to make me laugh!! She, on the other hand, is threatening revenge!!!

Also, if there are there any other 'Maxidot Secrets' that I can get activated by the dealer?

How much should I look to pay to get these activated. I bought my car through a Forces broker, so I don't have that dealership bought rapport yet!

TIA

Fin

In answer to your questions:

1) Yes - easily done

2) Possibly - but only with dealer tool not currently possible with VCDS, the jury is still very much out on this one. See some other threads on here.

3) Only if you have electrcally adjustable memory seats as you need the memory module to store the mirror position.

4)Yes - easily done

1 & 4 can be done easily by anyone with VCDS, there are a few of us on here who are willing to help out, but I'm a bit far away from you otherwise I'd do it for you.

Check out the Diagnostics thread, there is a list of people willing to help out if you don't want to go to the dealer and pay through the nose.

You can also activate:

Cornering lights, so the front fog lights up on the side your turning towards when you turn the steering wheel and the headlights are on.

Daytime running lights

Coming home lights, but in a limited way if you don't have the light sensing mirrior or auto lights.

That's pretty much the options I'd like activating on my estate (non maxi-dot also).

I'm not sure how much the dealer would charge but the forum has members with VCDS who you can contact. Take a look at the Diagnostics and VCDS discussion location map and somewhere like Glasgow is likely to be covered.

I think you'll get a good price or services will be exchanged for beer tokens! Worth thinking about.

BTW.............I've left the wife locked out as well on numerious ocassions

Just remembered...............I'm sure someone previosuly said you can get your rear brake lights to repeatly flash when under hard braking (i.e. a lot more noticeable for the car behind you)

Yes you can, have it done on mine. You can also choose to have auto hazard lights instead when under hard braking, with the brake lights on continuously.

I like it................that sounds better!

Fin69, did the dealer explain to you about maxidot when you were specing you order? The reason I ask is that when I ordered my Elegance I asked the salesman about it and he told me it wasn't worth having. I shall never believe a salesman again without checking forums like this one.

I've never believed salesmen anyway :)

Many thanks to all who responded to this post. Never been let down yet with a posting. If only the dealership network was run by Briskoda!!!!

I bought my car through a broker, so did not have much dealings with dealers. When I did approach them, the salesmen were pretty dismissive as soon as they found out I was not intending to buy for another 6 months plus. Wasn't offered a test drive, brochures, PPP to be honest! I then discovered I could get the car tax paid via a Forces broker, (£18k inc metallic, curtain airbags, front parking sensors, boot liner and spare wheel and toolkit -TBH Drivethedeal.com are pretty close to this price), so guess what avenue I took!!!

You can have the greatest product in the world, but it is all for nought when the first person you meet as you go through the front door is only interested in getting as much money off you as possible. It was the exact same at Honda, my car was fantastic (attrocious ride, right enough) had it 6 and a half years, done 90k (35k of which was around Europe!) but the two dealerships I went to were terrible. At least D!ck Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he robbed you!!

Fully concur with Flinflon about checking with forums before purchasing. That would be my first piece of advice to anyone interested in purchasing a car. Get on the forums!

While car was in for some warranty work, got the dealer to activate:

Turn lights (foglights light up in direction of turn when wheel angle greater than a certain value), great for slow speed manoeuvring or dark country lanes - am going to find out if this can be speed dependant, as you don't really need it on roundabouts at 20+mph!

Flashing brake lights after max braking (apparently this is instead of auto-hazards < activated after crash/airbag deployment)

2nd rear foglight

Was quite funny as the initial chap I handed it over too was dubious as it's only an 08 Octavia Elegance, but I pointed out it has been spec'd to the max and sure enough when I arrived to collect, the toys were there, just not turned on!

+1 to the forum

Well, you could spend the money you would have spent on Maxidot on VCDS instead - and get to do lots more things. Not to mention reading fault codes when it breaks down!

A lot of bodyshops will also have access to VCDS and might be able to help.

Is VCDS a matter of a laptop, software and an interface?
