Does the VRS have heated mirrors?

Featured Replies

Ok guys...so whats the definitive answer! 2006 Fabia VRS...

I don't understand what you don't understand.

A Fabia vRS has heated mirrors which are heated all the time when set to the "heat on" setting - i.e. the middle point on the switch.

It appears you are able to change the time period from infinity (default) to something less using VAGCOM though no one's posted what periods are possible.

The system is not linked in any way to the HRW.

Pre-facelift cars have a different switch (those cars have L+R and R settings) so without reference to a manual or a car I can't say whether the operation of the mirror heating is the same on those.

Any offers of a pre-facelift PDF manual gratefully welcomed.

Vw's they have a 4 position switch, one being the off position at the top - not sure why Skoda never adopted this.

The Octavia II has this (well, my parents' one does), as does the Fabia II (I think).

I could have sworn my manual said it was timed, like the rear windscreen, so it went off if the car thought you'd forgotten you'd left it on (about 20mins)?

Perhaps it's different with your car since my response was specific to the vRS as the OP requested. What does your manual say?

I seem to remember it being timed (but I could be wrong, and don't have it at work). I thought the manual was the same for all Fabia models (at least, that's what I was told) ...

I've a pre-face lift car and I had the original L+R & R mirror switch. This broke and I've replaced it with the newer switch with the independent movement of each mirror. In either case I've no indication that the heating of the mirrors is linked to the heated rear window. I've read several times that the heated mirrors times out automatically like the rear window, I'm not sure if I've noticed that on my car as I normally turn the rear screen and/or mirrors off when they are clear rather than waiting for them to time out.

Am i right in saying heated mirrors are standard?

Never knew the fabia came with heated mirrors even as a option.

Every UK supplied vRS had heated mirrors. There is one person on the list with a Maltese one which doesn't. Heated mirrors were also standard on Comfort, Ambiente and Elegance but not Classic, Bohemia and Sport (as far as I can determine)

A point to remember though, Every Fabia I've Vag-Com'd has the mirrors set on infinite heating, So as long as the ignition is on, The mirrors will be heating, Which will hasten their demise

Mike i noticed a fatal flaw in adjusting the timer to 15mins!!

after they turn themselves off after the 15min period, they re-mist themselves then you need to re-press the rear window heater for the wing mirrors to clear themselves

quite a pain in the bottom
