Alloy wheel offset

Featured Replies

Just been looking at a new set of wheel for the VRS

The ones i like to look of are listed as an ET45 / 7" width is this actually correct for the VRS they seem to think it is.... and how would the wheel sit comparied to the standard alloys

Thank in advance

From Reading Mytyres the steel wheel they sell for the vRS are:

6.5 x 16", ET42. With a 57mm centre hole and 5 x 100mmPCD wheel nuts.

something around ET 30 - 35 would sit in the arch much nicer :)

Thanks for the replys,

Would it mean the alloy would sit further in the arch than the standard wheels ??

yes... higher the ET the more it sticks in, the lower the more it sticks out!!!

ET 20 is about as low as you can comfortably go on the fabia

something about et25-35 would be better

Thanks, if the standard is 42 tho they will only be 3mm further in ?

Planning to lower it on coilovers soon

yes 3 mm further in... but you also are going wider than standard so you might run into some clearance issues.....

also if your running alloys with high et with coilovers they can catch the adjuster collar on the coilover if low

Offset is also based on wheel width, so for example ET45 on a 7" wheel is different to ET45 on a 6.5" wheel. To get the wheel to sit in the same place in the arch a different offset will be needed if the wheel is wider/narrower than the currently fitted wheel.

Standard alloys are 16 x 6.5J ET35. As Mannyo has stated the ET is the offset from the centre of the wheel so if you go from a 6.5J rim to a 7.5J rim you effectively change the ET by more although you normally don't notice it because the tyres are usually what dictate the clearance.

Thanks the offset calculator is just the thing was looking for :)

Says 4mm further in from edge and 16mm closer to strut housing so might have to give them a miss :(

Whats the name of the Mk.1 RS Fabia stock 16" alloys? Cant find it on the web.

std rims are not et35, I thought they were et37 6.5x16" 5x100.

If u r ever unsure how wheels will sit compared to the standard ones (or whatever uv got fitted) then use this calculator ;)

http://www.willtheyfit.com/

If ur not sure what et they are it will be stamped on 90% of wheels..

If not u can work it out using the width of the wheel + the measurement between the back of the wheel + the back of the face (the bit the mounts to the hub/ brake disc)
