  • Thank you for your help and patience Since i didn't' know exactly what a T4, T5 and Transported were, it seems its all one in the same. Ignorance is bliss i guess..

  • T4 is the transporter made from 1990 to 2003. Think transit size. Caddy is the polo derived small van. You need caddy centres. Like tbe ones i showed you. I just ordered mine from west end. It was ea

  • Being an honorary fifer I seeked out a set of new caddy caps like yours, for £15 plus £4 postage. Pretty good I think. Pics elsewhere in this thread show a flat disc cap, and that's what I thought I

Love dragging up an old post, anyone got a part number for the caddy centre cap?

I'm not a fan of the bare steelie look, so I've just gone for basic wheel trims. Still not a looker but in my eyes looks tidier

If you search EBay for 15" skoda wheel trims there are lots of pretty decent looking alternatives now, complete with Skoda centre badge! Still like my silver ones, but am tempted by some of the modern black ones too...

If you go to Germany in the winter almost every car has steel wheels with no trim.

But maybe they don't bother with the trim because of some resentment about being forced to have winter tyres by law?

The problem with plastic trims is they look basic, they cheapen the look of the car, even more so if they aren't genuine Skoda ones and are fitted to a car that was never available with steels, such as a vRS.

The advantage of black steels for me is that they shout "winter wheels", i.e. you look past the plain appearance and/or smaller diameter knowing the driver has safety as their number one concern.

The best option for me if plastic trims or plain black steels just won't do is a second set of alloys. I ran a cheap set of Audi alloys on my car for a few years until I was able to find an identical set to my summers at a decent price. Now my summer and winter wheels are identical in all but the tyres.

I've never experienced any resentment from our German relatives.

It is just something that you accept you've got to do. In fact they don't even see it that they are being forced to do it but it's the right thing to do anyway.

I travel to Germany 3 or 4 times a year for work and over the years have noticed that the black steels are becoming less popular, aftermarket alloy wheels appear to be getting more common. They were even offered for sale in some of the services on the autobahns!

That was my experience in Bavaria a few years ago anyway.
