With regards to the aerial just unscrew it, let it drop down so it's parallel with the roof line then give it a bloody good yank towards you! Will pop off with some force. Lots of remap threads if you have a search.

Yes but those aren't set in stone.

The rather ambiguous quote from the newsletter:

Other items – such as headlamp bulb and unit incompatibility, headlamp levelling devices and illegal engine ‘chipping’ – will need further thought before we can get a workable solution for MOT stations.

Some of the new items may require extra effort on the part of the tester – when we know for sure what that is we’ll be talking again with our trade and DfT colleagues to work out what the impact will be.

This is the UK, the government here ALWAYS takes the toughest possible interpretation of any new EU directive. They have almost shut down entire industries* because the regulations were too tough to comply with, while countries like France just shrug and ignore the new rules.

*Slaughter houses and Incinerators spring to mind.

January 2012 so you'd still get 13 months use even if they did ever change the laws :giggle:

This whole thing about non-OEM isn't quite right. The modifications have to be DEMONSTRATED to comply with the original specification of the car, as they have in Germany for years, so you will se a TÜV symbol on most tuners websites where they have had their modifications tested. The regulations actually say something like "Approved by a nationally recognised authority". That's why German remaps are only 70% the power/torque increase and cost twice as much as the UK equivalents. No smoky Fabias in Germany!

Befriend an MOT tester :D

Unlikely to happen as I can't see an MOT tester having all the scan tools for every Marque of car in this country.

The whole MOT thing is bull****. Theres is no way on earth in a years time it`ll be illegal to have a remap.
