Stripped / tracked fabia.

Featured Replies

Now i know alot of people will be against this. And i am no way going to do it...

But wondering if anyone had a stripped maybe caged with single bucket vrs?

Think it would be an animal tbh!

I seem to remember a college using one to convert into a rally car. There were some images posted on here somewhere.

I know personally, if and when funds allow i'll be completely rebuilding the fabia to race spec to maybe enter in VAG Trophy etc. When that'll happen though i don't know.

Pastyboy was also looking at cheap fabias for this purpose..

:)

Would be a lovely sleeper.

And i can imagine theres alot of wieght to lose!

Devonutopia and Jonny five have stripped theirs, a lot more power and they are keen trackers.

There's stripped, and then properly stripped though :)

Acid dipping shells, cutting crash bars out and replacing with lighter items, abs, glass windows, sound proofing, air-con, power steering etc.

A proper light weight fabia would be fun.. Still no getting away from that heavy derv engine though..

Half hearted wouldn't be worth the damage your doing to the car lol. Fully hardcore stripped or nothing.

Would challenge slot more then :D

any pics of said fabia's?

if we are being silly then i guess you could lower a ''BAM'' lump in to replace the heavy derv lump ??....emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Put another diesel engine in the rear? :giggle:

Gets me more than a little excited in the pants!

What on earth is that? Id rather have a slow furby than that

500bhp tfsi circa 460lb/ft iirc and 4wheel drive full of win in my book!

any pics of said fabia's?

A work in progress. Ultimately I would like to get the dash out completely and mount all remaining switch gear on an ally panel above the extinguisher. As is though it's my daily so retaining the stereo as it's still audiable above the zorst on full chat :giggle:

Next biggie will be the aircon out as it's fooked anyhoo, but not til 2011 when funds/time/house move permit

So my wife keeps telling me. I have had the car 6 years now, 145k on the clock, the value to anyone else is between minimal and fookall so it is slowly being stripped with a view to taking it off the road for use as a track toy as and when.

Johnny you ever had it weighed see how much lighter it is,

jonny5ive..you sir are a hero if we werent expecting our first the direction mine would be heading

Johnny you ever had it weighed see how much lighter it is,

Not weighed the car as such, but "fag packet" calculations adding up all the bits taken out = +/- 120kg (scientifcally weighed on the bathroom scales) :giggle:

The back seats were the heaviest part by a country mile

I have not gone near as far as Barrie has :D Mine basically just has rear seats & seatbelt mechanisms removed. I still have carpets, doorcards, dashboard, etc in place. I am planning on removing some bits for the trackday on Friday, but it will all be going back in after. My car after all still needs to retain most of its comforts as it is my daily driver. :)

Did Dave (Shifty) not go even further than Johnnys car ?

Two races seats too :)

Although Mr S Roll has it fully built back up now.

Did Dave (Shifty) not go even further than Johnnys car ?

From memory he did this and chucked all the trim removed away. :D Seemed a bit of a waste at the time.

i reckon the air con and related bits plus rear seats will be the most weigh saved, things like speakers and seatbelts also add up to abit

Oh, yeah. My aircon is gone. Around 20kg+ saved I reckon, and from the good end of the car too.
