2010 Skoda Fabia Tyres

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

Was just wondering what tyres come on the 2010 Fabia vRS as standard? Looking at buying wet tyres or all-rounder tyres but I haven't seen the standard tyres discussed or mentioned yet.

Ta

Ours came With Dunlop Sport Maxx GT's

I have them on my Octavia vRS...RUBBISH..Worn out in 6500 miles!!

But very good dry grip..The only redeeming feature

Both cars now have Winter tyres on..

The Octy fronts will be replaced in't Spring

Why winter tyres, dont get it I have never had problems with the standard all-round tyres, does it really make that much difference?:wonder:

Conti SportContacts in my case. Had them on the last one and really can't complain.

There are many threads on this forum about Winter tyres. Winter tyres not only cope much better in snow, but also do better in the cold. Most manufactures of these tyres say 7 degrees C is the point where winter tyres start to gain their advantage. In the UK's climate this normally means Nov/Dec until Mar/April, where the temperature is 7 degrees or lower.

I am seriously considering buying some after spending over 1 hour last winter trying to get out of my snow covered drive. This was also proved a few weeks ago when AutoExpress tested them on snow. They took Conti SportContacts (summer tyres) as a comparison. When braking on snow the Contis where still doing 20mph when the best winter tyres had stopped. The scary thing was they only started braking from 25 mph. :o

have a look in the Octavia section as its been done to death :giggle: few very interesting youtube video's out there and I can say after last years snow the standard tyres are fine on well treated roads, but country roads with little or no treatment it all becomes rather scary

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll have to have a look at what tyres are on it when I get it on Saturday ;)

Thinking of grabbing a pair of Uniroyal Rainsport 2's as they seem to get very good reviews. Just trying to find some in stock at a good price :dull:

...i have just bought 4 winter michelin alpine 4 15" and they feel kind of softer to drive in maybe they need to be broken in

Continental Eco Contact 3 came with mine, 1500 miles so far , no complains :)

I'm thinking of doing the same with my Mk1 vRS. I've had Eagle F1 GSD2 & GSD3s, and my Toyo T1-Rs are needing replacing. Like you I fancy trying Rainsport 2s, It's just finding them is a problem. If I can't find any, I'll buy some winter tyres and hope by Easter next year people will be stocking Rainsports again.

I'm after some for the Mk1 vRS which are 205/45 16.

Edit: just put my tyres size in and they have them in stock for £71.50.

I've just noticed Mytyres only stock Sunny and Roadstone Winter tyres for the MkII, and I've never heard of them, so I'd go for those Rainsports. Unless you buy some 16 inch wheels for winter tyres, which I'm sure you don't want the extra hassle.

Blimey! Were you wheelspinning all the time, running them flat, with a bootful of lead? :giggle:

My two front corners have these - best tyres I've ever used. Knock the factory-fitted Bridgestone turanzas into a cocked hat when it comes to grip and road noise. Devil to find though - in the end I found a pair online and arranged for them to be fitted at my loacl Merit tyres.

Having picked up my Fabia vRS (yay :giggle:) they came with Dunlop Sport Maxx. Which seem to do the trick in the dry. Question is what they'll be like at 6.30am on a cold wet morning when I go to work lol :(

If things get really dicey, probably invest in Uniroyals or if snow comes along this winter, then winter tyres.

i have uniroyals on my car there great in the brittish weather and good in winter tbh as long as it doesent snow too much but even then they get some grip. Well worth considering in my view!!

Bit late here, but just to add, got the Rainsport2 tyres from Merityre for about £85 each and they are genuinely

the best tyre I've fitted so far. All the good reviews are absolutely right - incredible tyre.

My vRS has arrived at the dealership, had a quick look round it and noticed its came with Continental Contact tyres and chrome alloys (as ordered). Another vRS delivered on the same day had Dunlop Sports on with black alloys.

Is it just pot luck which tyres you get or is there a link to what type of alloy you opt for?

The wife's came with Dunlop Sport Maxx

'Auric Goldfinger' ,

Im not sure what tyres were on the fabia i test drove, it was happy with it hence ordering one.

have you been fortunate to have a blast with the different type of tyre? did you notice any major differences of ride quality, grip and all those lovely assoicated features between the Dunlops and Cont's?

The sport max's are almost like some sort of track tyre that needs to be warmed up to work properly as I found they do start to give more grip back after a long blast but on the daily commute with an ambiant temp of 2-4C it's traction control city with more than half throttle.

Also after being lucky enough to compair Sharkriders VRS on the Continentals after a quick run the Continentals were warm to the touch, while on the same run the Dunlops weren't

I've not driven the new Fabia Vrs on anything else but the Dunlops. The car we test drove was sat in the showroom and after lots of trips to the dealer he arranged for us to test drive it. We bought that one.

I have a Octavia MkII Vrs and is booted with Uniroyal Rain Masters and I have every confidence in them they are Awesome

Thinking about putting them on the Fabia
