KW Coilover fitting

Featured Replies

Anyone got any recommendations for somewhere that can fit coilovers to my Octy RS around or near South Bucks?

Thought of AmD, but I've read posts about them refusing to fit kits supplied by other dealers, only using Eibach or Koni stuff that they sell.

Alternatively, how difficult would it be to fit and set up myself?

Thanks

Andy

If you go to AMD get a fixed price quote first.

It should not be difficult for any small competent garage to fit.

Mine cost me

mine also cost me 100 quid fitted (cash deal at local tyre outlet....)

I payed

tbh i would say its worth the extra for alignment...

as mine ate tyres when first fitted...

do not mant people actually work on their own cars then? i wouldn't even consider paying someone to fit coilovers, hence the reason me and my bro between us have now fitted manifolds, cats, de-cats, exhaust systems, suspension, brakes(all but calipers, but soon to do them too), even did the engine on the nova. are we wierd?

Some people simply don't have the time / workspace or tools to work on their cars.

Some things i will do, some i won't touch.

Where abouts are you Andy?

I would recomend AmD, they know a thing or two about suspension from the old race days, Nathan who is thier senior tech imparted a wealth of knowledge to me when I worked there, they also have the full VAG wheel alignment gear.

I could also do it for you at work, but i think it may work out more expensive if Awesome GTi could do it for

fair enough about time constraints but all we have is argos spanners and sockets along with various hammers and crow bars. other than that we have recently bought axle stands and ramps for the princly sum of 30 quid other than that the only thing we have is the trolley jack, again not expensive and most our work is done infront of the house, major stuff being done in the garage(normal sized garage, you have to move the car half way through the repair to get to either side comfortably)

bengie... you fit coilovers on your drive!!... tell you what next time i need some doing i will give you

why are coilovers so difficult, how is it different to removing the springs and dampers and then changing the springs. if anything this will be easier as i don't have to take the untis apart, just bolt them in place as they have already been on a similar car and setup right.

i removed and refitted the engine(pretty much) in the nova on swmbo's brothers drive and my mate totally rebuilt his nov including 2.0T conversion and everything but paint and some welding on his drive(the other end of my road), call it

btw what exactly is a 2 post lift? is it the thing they have in tyre places

The most common ramp on about every workshop these days. Two posts one either side with four arms that swing out,(two front two rear).

coil overs are a doddle to fit yourself .... i got half way through and had to stop... my kit was missing a bracket that holds on the ARB so had to take to a local garage they put them on and welded me on a bracket..

thieving sods,

thieving sods,

ahh. thats not too bad then

what allignment have you had done ?i though the camber was non adjustable on octavia's? or are we talking about tracking?
